Chapter 147
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 147:
âJust my secretary,â Alex replied.
âSecretary? A secretary calling at this hour? Alex, do you think Iâm a fool?â Noahâs tone was sharp with sarcasm as he reached out, trying to grab Alexâs phone.
Alex sidestepped, holding the phone away from him. âYouâre drunk. Stop making a scene.â
âIâm not drunk!â Noah insisted, grabbing Alexâs arm with surprising strength. âGive me the phone!â
âLet go!â Alex snapped, pulling his arm free. âNoah, enough! Stop this drunken spectacle!â
He turned to the butler and said, âPlease take Mr. Wall home. He shouldnât be causing a scene here.â
The butler hesitated, glancing between the two men, then stepped forward to assist Noah. âMr. Wall, perhaps itâs best if you head home to rest.â
Noah resisted, his gaze locked on Alexâs phone, but the butler eventually led him out.
Watching them leave, Alex exhaled deeply, quickly opened his phone, and changed Sadieâs contact name to âAllen,â vowing to be more discreet in the future.
Noah woke the next day with a splitting headache, the previous nightâs events vivid in his mind. He summoned his assistant, Samuel. âInvestigate everything about Alex, especially his travels over the last three years. I want details. And keep an eye on him. Report back anything unusual immediately.â
Samuel nodded and left to execute the orders.
The same day, Alex met Sadie at her grandmaâs apartment as promised.
âThank you, Alex,â Sadie expressed her gratitude warmly.
âItâs the least I could do,â Alex replied with a smile. âLetâs not keep the professionals waiting.â

They had dinner at an upscale private club, where, thanks to Alexâs connections, the professionals in the design industry were particularly welcoming to Sadie. They praised her portfolio and offered valuable advice. After dinner, Sadie thanked Alex again.
âAlex, I really canât thank you enough. Meeting these people wouldnât have been possible without your help.â
âIt was the least I could do,â Alex said with a faint smile. âBy the way, have you thought about the studio? If you need, I can help you find a suitable place to rent.â
Sadie thought for a moment before refusing. âI can handle it myself. Thank you.â
Meanwhile, Samuel handed Noah a stack of photos.
âMr. Wall, these are Mr. Howeâs activities from this afternoon.â
Noah took the photos and flipped through them. Suddenly, he paused at one. In the picture, Alex was walking alongside a woman. Though she wore sunglasses, Noah recognized her instantlyâit was Sadie!
A torrent of suppressed longing surged within him, and Noah could no longer contain himself. Snatching up his car keys, he rushed out, driven by a singular desire to see her.
Outside Lauraâs apartment, Noah knocked forcefully on the door. The door swung open, and Sadie, taken aback, said, âN-Noah?â
Inside, Lauraâs voice echoed. âSadie, who is it?â
Sadie didnât want Noah to find out about Averi. She managed to keep her composure. âItâs⦠a friend. Iâll just step outside for a moment.â Taking a deep breath, she stepped out and gently closed the door behind her.
âWhat are you doing here?â she asked, her voice tense.
As Sadie descended the stairs, Noah grabbed her wrist with surprising force.
âNoah, what are you doing? Let go of me!â Sadie exclaimed, struggling to free herself.
Without a word, he dragged her through the quiet campus roadside, beyond the gates. Ignoring her protests, he suddenly pressed her against the cold metal of the car and kissed her.
