Chapter 16
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 16:
But as he saw the dark screen, he realized the call had ended long ago. The phoneâs screen reflected his darkening expression.
Frustration boiled inside him as he flung the phone onto the table, unable to make sense of the emotions churning within him.
âDamn it!â Noah grumbled through clenched teeth.
Just then, the soft murmur of whispers slipped through the thin walls of his office.
âDid you see the pictures? Sadie was getting cozy with two men at the same time.â
âIs that so? Thatâs hard to believe. Sheâs always seemed so upright and polished to me.â
âWell, appearances can be deceiving, canât they?â
As these snippets of conversation reached his ears, Noahâs face clouded over, a storm brewing in his eyes.
With a sudden, forceful motion, he flung the office door open, his eyes piercing as they swept over the group of gossiping women outside. His voice sliced through the air, icy and sharp.
âDonât you all have actual work to do?â
The women blanched, a wave of fear washing over them as they lowered their heads, hardly daring to draw breath.
âMr. Wall, weâre truly sorry. It wonât happen again!â
Noah gave a dismissive snort, his silence as condemning as any words. Turning on his heel, he retreated back into the sanctuary of his office. Even when he was back at his desk, his anger continued to simmer, barely contained.
He snatched up the phone and dialed a number.
âSamuel, get over here. Now.â

Samuel knocked lightly on the door before stepping inside.
âIs there something you need, Mr. Wall?â
âWhatâs the deal with those pictures?â Noahâs voice cut through the air, a hint of barely contained rage threading through his words.
Samuel hesitated for a moment, his mind racing to catch up with Noahâs query. Realization flickered in his eyes, and he quickly composed himself.
âI only just found out about this matter myself, sir, and I was on my way to inform you.â
He extended his phone towards Noah.
âIâve sent the photos to your phone as well.â
Noah accepted the phone with a swift motion, his gaze narrowing as he scrutinized the image displayed.
It was him and Sadie in the picture. The background left no doubtâit had been taken covertly from outside Sadieâs apartment building. In the photo, Sadie clung to him tightly, her posture tender, while he gazed down at her, their closeness undeniably intimate.
A shadow passed over Noahâs face, his brow knitting together as his eyes turned stormy and impenetrable.
Observing Noahâs troubled expression, Samuel tread carefully.
âMr. Wall, should we take this opportunity to make your marriageââ
âNo need.â Noah cut him off sharply, his voice resonating with authority.
âI donât care howâjust figure out who took those photos and who posted them online.â
He tossed the phone onto the desk with a clatter, the haunting image of Sadieâs ghostly, distraught face lingering in his mind.
As the finality of their divorce loomed, he desperately wished to avoid any more complications.
