Chapter 160
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 160:
Realizing this, Sadie scanned the office quickly.
Byrum was⦠nowhere to be found.
A chilling premonition washed over her, and her heart sank.
âWhereâs Byrum? Why isnât he here today?â she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
A young designer timidly raised a hand, responding cautiously, âMiss Hudson, Byrum took a leave today, citing an emergency at home.â
âAn emergency?â Sadie echoed, suspicion rising within her.
Byrumâs absence seemed too convenient.
âDid he mention when heâd return?â she pressed.
The young designer, clearly nervous under her scrutiny, stuttered, âN-no, he didnât specify.â
Taking another deep breath, Sadie said, âGive me Byrumâs phone number.â
The designer quickly jotted down the number and handed it to her.
Sadie dialed immediately.
It went unanswered.
Finally, an automated message stated, âHello, the phone you dialed is turned offâ¦â
Turned off?
Sadieâs heart sank deeper.
Determined, Sadie tried calling again, only to be met with the same result.
She instructed, âDoes anyone here have other contact information for Byrum?â
Nothing came of Sadieâs efforts.

Sadie bit her lower lip hard, striving to maintain her composure. At this point, panic would serve no purpose.
âCall the police!â she commanded decisively. âCall them now!â Simultaneously, Sadie began urgently creating a new batch of drafts. Time was pressing, and every second was crucial.
She worked relentlessly, foregoing sleep and rest. Reassuring the clients was also essential. Handling the smaller clients proved manageable, but the larger ones, particularly Hank Lawrence, the CEO of Lawrence Group, posed the greatest challenge.
âMr. Lawrence wonât see me?â Sadie massaged her temples, fatigue evident in her voice.
The assistant responded cautiously, âYes, Miss Hudson. Mr. Lawrenceâs secretary mentioned heâs been extremely busy and canât spare time for a meeting.â
This was the third time Sadie had been rebuffed.
âFind out what Mr. Lawrence has been involved in lately! And check his social circles too!â she instructed.
Shortly after, the assistant returned with information. Hankâs wife, Leanna Lawrence, had her eye on a rare Hermes bag that was hard to acquire, even with ample funds.
An idea sparked in Sadieâs mind. Perhaps leveraging Leanna could provide a breakthrough.
âContact the Hermes store,â she directed her assistant. âTell them I need that bag, regardless of the cost.â
The assistant paused momentarily, then quickly grasped the urgency. âOkay, Miss Hudson, Iâll handle it immediately.â
The assistant was prompt, and by the next day, there was good news.
âMiss Hudson, itâs done!â
Sadie felt a wave of relief. Securing Hankâs order would provide the studio with much-needed stability.
