Chapter 179
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 179:
Soon after, a young woman knocked and entered the room. It was Jordyn Vazquez, the deputy director of the design department. Jordynâs makeup was impeccably done today, and her professional suit accentuated her confident demeanor.
Kylaâs eyes briefly assessed Jordyn.
âHello, Ms. Vazquez.â
âMiss Wade, hello.â Jordyn approached, bowing slightly in respect.
She knew well that Kyla was highly influential within Noahâs circleâand potentially his future wife. Crossing Kyla could jeopardize her career at Wall Group.
âNoah has arranged for me to go on a business trip. Today, Sadie, who has just joined us, has been placed in the storeroomâthatâs my good friend. Do you understand what Iâm implying?â
Jordyn felt a slight tension build, her forehead beading with sweat. The storeroom was known for its poor conditionsâa dark, damp space hardly suitable for anyone, much less for an office.
It was clear that Kyla intended to make Sadieâs situation difficult.
Jordyn caught on quickly, her expression composed as she replied with a faint smile, âAbsolutely, Miss Wade. I will ensure Sadie is âwell taken care of.ââ
Kyla nodded, pleased. âYouâre sharp. Handle this well, and the director position could be yours.â
A spark of ambition flashed in Jordynâs eyes as she assured, âYou can count on me. I wonât disappoint you.â
Meanwhile, in the dimly lit storeroom, Sadie sat at a simple desk surrounded by clutter. The faint musty smell of the room and the inadequate lighting made the space nearly unbearable.
Design drafts were spread before her, and she held a pen, though she found it hard to begin working.
Rubbing her temples, Sadie sighed deeply, overwhelmed by the oppressive environment.
Her frustration palpable, she dropped the pen onto the desk, where it landed with a crisp clack. Next to her, a wastebasket overflowed with crumpled drafts.
Just then, a knock came at the door.
âPlease come in.â
The door creaked as it opened, and Jordyn entered.
Sadie looked up, her expression unreadable, as she regarded her visitor. Three years ago, when she worked as Noahâs secretary, Sadie had met Jordyn.
Back then, Jordyn was just an ordinary employee. Now, in just three years, she had risen to the position of deputy director.
Jordynâs eyes swept over the shabby office, and a mocking smirk briefly appeared on her lips before she replaced it with a concerned expression.
âSadie, are you settling in okay?â
âThanks to Miss Wade, itâs not too bad,â Sadie replied dryly.
Jordyn feigned shock. âHow can it not be? This is one of the finest offices in Wall Group!â
Sadie didnât reply, simply offering Jordyn a knowing half-smile.
Feeling somewhat uncomfortable under Sadieâs steady gaze, Jordyn cleared her throat and changed the subject. âWould you like to join the department dinner tonight?â
âNo, thank you,â Sadie answered without hesitation.
âOh, come on! We were all colleagues once, and now we keep running into each other. Itâs only polite to meet everyone and say hello!â Jordynâs tone was light, yet there was an underlying insistence in her words.
Sadie realized that declining might give Jordyn a reason to complicate her situation further.
