Chapter 180
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 180:
It seemed wiser to accept the invitation and gauge Jordynâs intentions. After a momentâs pause, Sadie nodded. âAlright, Iâll attend.â
At that, Jordynâs expression transformed into one of triumph. âGreat! Itâs settled then. Six oâclock tonight. Donât be late!â With a confident stride, she exited the room.
Sadie watched Jordynâs departing figure, her gaze thoughtful and deep. A cold smile played at the corners of her lips, hinting at her strategic mind at work.
Later that afternoon, the storeroom door creaked open, revealing a bright and cheerful presence.
âSadie, are you busy?â Tina stepped inside, her chestnut curls bouncing around her delicate, doll-like face.
She carried two milkshakes in her hands.
Sadie looked up and met Tinaâs gaze, which was filled with concern. Managing a small smile, she asked, âTina, what brings you here?â
Tina approached, placing one of the milkshakes on Sadieâs cluttered desk and sitting across from her. She lowered her voice as she said, âIâve got some juicy gossip for you!â
âWhat gossip?â Sadie asked, stirring the milkshake absentmindedly, though a sense of unease began to stir within her.
âKyla is on a business trip!â
âA business trip?â Sadieâs brow furrowed slightly. âIsnât that normal?â
âNormal? Not at all! Guess where sheâs headed? Amberhollow!â Tinaâs voice was dramatic. âThat remote, desolate place! Can you believe Mr. Wall actually sent her there? Itâs so odd!â
Amberhollow?
A sudden chill ran through Sadie.

That placeâ¦
Sadie maintained a composed expression, feigning nonchalance as she inquired, âWhatâs wrong with Amberhollow? Itâs just another project.â
Tina gave her a knowing look, leaning in and whispering mysteriously, âThat Amberhollow project is notorious for being a tough assignment! Many companies have struggled there. And now Mr. Wall sent Kyla to handle it? Doesnât that seem odd?â
Sadie felt a flutter of anxiety, her grip tightening on the milkshake unwittingly. She lowered her eyes to conceal the unease flickering within them. Tina took a sip of her milkshake, let out a satisfied sigh, and then, as if struck by a sudden thought, looked up at Sadie.
âBy the way, Sadie, are you free tonight after work? How about we go shopping?â
Sadie pondered for a moment and then shook her head, her voice tinged with regret. âI canât tonight. The design department is having a gathering event.â
âOh?â Tinaâs face fell slightly. âWell, alright. Maybe another time.â She leaned closer, her voice dropping to a murmur. âJust be careful around that Jordyn. Sheâs trouble.â
Sadie offered a wry smile at Tinaâs dramatic tone. âIâll keep that in mind. Thanks for the warning.â
After a bit more small talk, Tina left.
âSadie, letâs go. Weâre heading out for karaoke!â At around 5:30 p.m., Jordyn burst into Sadieâs office.
Before Sadie could react, Jordyn was pulling her away. A design draft still in hand, Sadie nearly collided with the desk edge. âWait, I havenâtââ
âOh, come on, what are you waiting for? Everyoneâs already waiting!â Jordyn exclaimed, dragging Sadie out.
Jordyn, dressed in a form-fitting dress that highlighted her figure, led Sadie with a seemingly friendly grip that was surprisingly forceful. Sadie attempted to pull away several times but found it difficult to escape Jordynâs strong hold.
