Chapter 195
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 195:
âUnderstood, Miss Hudson.â
Sadieâs stilettos clicked against the tiled floor of the Wall Group building. She looked sharp and sophisticated in her beige pantsuit as she walked across the lobby with her head held high.
She entered the elevator, and as it slowly made its way up, she felt her heart pick up its pace. An inexplicable sense of trepidation began to creep into her chest. This was definitely not going to be a calm day.
The elevator doors opened with a soft ding, and Sadie made her way to her office. As soon as she entered the door, she was greeted by a shrill, mocking laugh.
âWell, well, if it isnât our big-shot designer, Sadie! How brave of you to show up for work today!â Jordyn was lounging in a chair, her legs crossed in front of her as she eyed Sadie up and down.
Sadie paused in her tracks and pinned her gaze on Jordyn. They stared at each other for a few seconds before Sadie turned away and went to her desk. She set her purse down and sat in her chair, ignoring Jordynâs provocation.
âWhatâs the matter? Cat got your tongue? Or did all those nasty comments online finally get to you?â The lack of reaction to her taunts had emboldened Jordyn.
Sadie looked up, met Jordynâs gaze, and finally spoke. âIf your concern is genuine, Ms. Vazquez, then I appreciate it. But if this is just another way to mock me, Iâd really rather be left alone to focus on my work.â
âWork? Youâve got some nerve to talk about work! Do you even realize what youâve done? Taking bribes, using connections to get ahead⦠Youâve completely ruined this companyâs reputation!â
Sadie gave her a tight but polite smile. âThe investigation is still ongoing, but I see that youâve already made your own judgments. Donât you think thatâs a little bit hasty of you? Or is it because youâre actually the one pulling the strings from behind the scenes? You seem so eager to see me confess to things I didnât do.â
Jordynâs expression shifted, her eyes flickering in what looked like panic, but she managed to compose herself in a matter of seconds. âWhat nonsense are you spewing now? Iâm not pulling any strings. I am simply stating facts!â
âIs that so? Letâs wait for the results of the investigation, then, shall we?â Sadieâs tone was a little icy. She turned her attention back to the files on her desk.

âSadie Hudson,â Jordyn spat out, her eyes burning with rage. âI advise you to give up while itâs still early. You will never beat me!â
âWell, the winner is yet to be determined,â Sadie replied flatly without even looking up.
Gritting her teeth, Jordyn jabbed a finger in her direction and said, âFine! Just you wait. Iâll make you regret this!â
Then she shot to her feet and stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind her.
At last, the office was quiet and peaceful. Sadie put down the documents she had been trying to read and massaged her forehead.
At that same moment, in the CEOâs office on the top floor, Samuel was standing before Noahâs desk, offering up a file. âThis is all the information you requested, sir.â
Noah took the file and flipped it open, his eyes quickly skimming through the contents. The more he read, the deeper he frowned. âHowâs it going with the accusations of bribery against Sadie? Has it been cleared up yet?â
Samuel hesitated for a moment. âThereâs no concrete evidence to present at the moment, but Iâm afraid public opinion is highly unfavorable toward Miss Hudson.â
Noah slapped the file against his desk. âI want you to find out the truth as soon as possible. I donât want any more of these baseless rumors to make rounds.â
âYes, sir,â Samuel replied with a slight bow, though a cloud of doubt hovered at the back of his mind. He wasnât quite sure what to make of Noahâs attitude when it came to Sadie. On the surface, he didnât seem all too concerned about her affairs, yet he would go to such lengths to get her out of trouble. As a result, Samuel himself was confused about which stance to take in tackling this matter.
