Chapter 219
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 219:
Sadie fought to keep her emotions in check. Forcing a smile, she asked, âAveri, what are you playing with?â
The moment he saw her, Averi abandoned his toy and ran straight into her arms. âMom!â
He turned to glance at Noah, curiosity in his wide eyes. âMom, thisââ
Before he could finish, Sadie gently covered his mouth, stopping him mid-sentence.
Averi blinked up at her, confusion evident, his tiny hands attempting to pull hers away. âAveri, heâs not your dad.â
The little boy hesitated, clearly wanting to say more, but one look at Sadieâs firm expression made him fall silent. Still, his gaze kept drifting back toward Noah.
Noah remained crouching, his sharp eyes locked onto Sadie as if searching for an answer in her expression.
Suppressing the chaos of emotions within her, Sadie straightened and spoke, her voice measured. âMr. Wall, we need to talk. Outside.â
She refused to let this conversation unfold in front of the child. Averi didnât need to witness the tension brewing between them.
Noah stood, his towering presence casting a long shadow across the room. Without a word, he followed her out.
The moment the door shut behind them, Sadieâs carefully constructed composure crumbled.
âNoah, what exactly do you think youâre doing?â
The warmth Sadie had shown moments ago had vanished, replaced once again by cold detachment.
Noahâs brows knitted together in confusion. âWhy did Averi call me Dad?â he asked, his voice tinged with concern.

Sadie paused, then responded with a mocking laugh. âMr. Wall, you know children. They say whatever comes to mind. Why overthink it? Or is this just another one of your games?â
Noahâs expression grew somber, but he maintained his calm. âSadie, Iâm asking for the truth,â he said firmly.
âThe truth?â Sadieâs voice was laced with derision. âWhat truth could you possibly want from me, Mr. Wall? Remember, weâre divorced. Affairs have nothing to do with you anymore.â
As Sadie turned to walk away, Noah reached out, his grasp firm on her wrist. âSadie, donât push me,â he said quietly, his voice carrying a dangerous edge.
Sadie jerked her arm away, her eyes flashing. âPlease, Mr. Wall, keep your hands to yourself.â
She didnât look back as she walked into the hospital room, where Averi was playing with his toys cheerfully. He looked up and smiled brightly at her return.
Noah lingered in the deserted corridor, a tumult of emotions churning behind his intense gaze. He took out his phone and made a call. âI need to know whatâs happening with Averi.â
The response came swiftly, carrying grave news. âMr. Wall, Averi has been diagnosed with leukemia and urgently requires a bone marrow transplant. The most likely match would be his biological fatherâ¦â
Noah clenched his jaw, a flicker of concern crossing his face as he thought of Alex. What was Alex thinking?
The following day, Sadie was the epitome of professionalism in her beige suit, her demeanor calm and poised. Her ride pulled up in front of the towering Lawrence Group building, and she stepped out gracefully.
âMiss Hudson, itâs been a while,â greeted Hankâs secretary, who was waiting for her at the entrance. His smile was warm and welcoming. Sadie returned the gesture, her expression calm yet cordial. âHello.â
