Chapter 227
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 227:
Kyla suppressed the panic rising in her chest and hurried over to him, slipping her arm around his. âYour phone fell on the floor earlier. I just picked it up for you.â
Today, Isabel had invited them over for dinner.
It had taken all of Kylaâs effort to convince Noah to agree.
Earlier, Isabel had pulled Noah upstairs to talk, leaving his phone downstairs, which was how Kyla received Sadieâs call.
Noah said nothing, merely giving her a brief glance before picking up his phone and walking out.
Kyla felt a wave of relief, yet a lingering sense of unease remained.
âNoah, dinner is ready. Why donât you stay and have dinner with your mother before you go?â She took a few steps after him.
But Noah didnât stop. He didnât even look back, leaving without a word.
Kyla stood frozen in place, the smile on her face slowly fading.
Her hands balled into fists, her nails digging into her palms.
It was fine, she reassured herself. Once Sadie was completely out of the picture, Noah would eventually be hers. Sadie must be frantic now, like a cat on a hot tin roof.
The thought brought a cold smile to Kylaâs lips once more.
She would make sure Sadie understoodâSadie could never win against her.
A sharp sound of porcelain shattering came from upstairs, piercing through the air.
Kylaâs heart skipped a beat, a sense of foreboding washing over her.
She hurried upstairs, gently pushing open the slightly ajar door.
Inside, Isabel sat by the bed, her face ashen.

Kyla approached cautiously, her voice filled with concern. âIsabel, are you alright? What happened?â
Isabel suddenly looked up, her eyes red with anger. âNoahâs defying me again, all for that wretched woman!â
Isabelâs well-maintained face was now twisted with pain and fury.
Kylaâs heart leapt with joy, but she put on a worried face as she gently held Isabelâs shoulders and softly comforted her. âPlease donât be upset. Itâs not worth it to harm your health over this. Noah must have been momentarily blindedââ
âBlinded? Heâs completely bewitched by that woman!â Isabel shook Kylaâs hands away, her tone sharp.
Kyla lowered her gaze. She gently patted Isabelâs back as she said, âPlease calm down. Maybe Noah is just acting on impulse. Once he cools down, heâll understand your good intentions.â
She paused for a moment, then added, âYouâre the closest person to him after all.â
Isabelâs anger gradually subsided. She reached out and took Kylaâs hands. âKyla, youâre so understanding, unlike that cursed woman, Sadie, whoâs always trying to drive a wedge between me and my son!â
Noah strode out of the villa with a determined pace. Samuel, who had been lingering by the door, quickly followed. He opened his mouth to speak several times, each attempt faltering before words could form.
Finally, gathering his courage, he managed to break the silence. âMr. Wallâ¦â
Noah paused, turning slightly, his intense gaze sharp with impatience. âYes, what is it?â
Gathering himself, Samuel continued, âThereâs been a report from the person watching Miss Hudson. He reported⦠he reported that Averi is facing some complications.â
âWhat kind of complications?â Noahâs voice was stern, demanding clarity.
Samuel shifted uneasily, his eyes darting away as he stuttered, âItâs⦠the donor, sir⦠Theyâve decided to back out.â
