Chapter 247
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 247:
Sadie scanned the room, her heart swelling with a sense of belonging as she absorbed the cheerful scene.
However, the light-hearted atmosphere soon gave way to hushed whispers and speculative murmurs.
A young designer leaned in close to the one next to her, voice dropping to a secretive whisper. âDid you hear? Kyla was let go from the Wall Group.â
âYouâve got to be kidding. Kyla is one of the best, isnât she?â
âI swear itâs true. A friend working in Wall Groupâs legal department told me personally.â
âDoes this mean⦠Mr. Wall and Kyla are finally getting married? Is she stepping down to become Mrs. Wall?â
Curious eyes suddenly turned towards Sadie, their expressions a mix of intrigue and expectation.
One particularly bold colleague, a mischievous grin tugging at her lips, ventured, âSadie, youâve been with Wall Group for a long time. You must have heard some juicy stories, right? Whatâs the real scoop with Mr. Wall and Kyla?â
Sadie froze for a moment, caught off guard by the sudden inquiry. She forced a smile onto her lips but didnât respond. With a quick turn, she stepped back into her office.
âEveryone, stop wasting time on gossip and get back to work!â Tina commanded, her voice cutting through the mounting whispers with clear authority. As the office door clicked shut behind her, it muffled the bustling chatter outside.
Leaning against the cool, sturdy door, Sadie released a long, weary sigh. She massaged her temples gently, her expression creased with evident exhaustion.
Kyla got fired. And⦠Noah seemed completely out of character today. Suddenly, a series of soft knocks echoed at the door. The sound snapped her out of her reverie.
âCome in,â she called out while walking towards her chair.
The door opened to reveal Tina, who stepped in with a comforting presence, her hands cradling a cup of steaming coffee. âSadie, are you alright?â
Her voice dripped with concern as she set the coffee down on the cluttered desk.
Sadie managed a weak nod and a subdued smile. âIâm fine, just feeling a bit tired. Whatâs up, Tina? What brings you here?â she inquired, her tone lightening a touch.
With a playful wink, Tina settled into the chair across from her. âOf course Iâm here to celebrate with you. Also, Iâve brought the payment receipt.â She paused, her eyes twinkling with mischief. âYou know, every time I step into this studio, it makes me want to leave Wall Group and join your team. Everyone here is so talented and supportive, and the clients? Incredibly generous.â
With a theatrical flourish, Tina pretended to count stacks of bills, her voice tinged with awe. âTen million dollars! Holy crap! I couldnât make that in a hundred lifetimes!â
Just as the laughter was fading, the studio door slammed open with a jarring crash.
Pierre, Sadieâs assistant, stumbled in, his usual composure shattered, his face drained of color.
âMiss⦠Miss Hudson, thereâs bad news,â he stammered, breathless from urgency.
