Chapter 260
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 260:
Kylaâs complexion turned ashen; her lips quivered, yet no words came out.
âMiss Wade, would you like to explain this?â the officer asked as he shut the box.
Kyla inhaled deeply, trying to compose herself. âMay I make a phone call?â
After a brief pause, the officer nodded. âYou may.â
With her fingers quivering, Kyla grasped her phone, her thoughts whirling.
She considered calling Noah but stopped herself abruptly.
Noah was currently overseas on business. Telling him what she had done might only complicate matters further. She decided it was best not to inform him.
She had to find someone who could get her out of this immediately.
Eventually, she opted to call Isabel.
As the call went through, Isabelâs soothing voice filled the line. âKyla, itâs quite late. Is everything okay?â
Tears choked Kylaâs voice as she replied, âIsabelâ¦â She struggled to speak through her sobs. âI⦠Iâm in a real messâ¦â
Isabelâs tone shifted to concern immediately. âTell me whatâs happened? Whatâs wrong?â
Between uncontrollable sobs, Kyla spoke, painting herself as an unwitting victim of Sadieâs scheming.
âSadie orchestrated this against meâ¦â Her story was far from the truth and overly dramatized.
âReally? She did that to you?â Outrage colored Isabelâs response. âHang tight, Kyla. Iâm on my way to help. Where are you right now?â Kyla whispered her address, then let out a shaky whimper. âIsabel, Iâm really scaredâ¦â
âStay calm, Kyla. Iâm on my way!â

At that moment, the two police officers exchanged looks. One stepped forward, saying, âMiss Wade, please follow us.â
Standing, Kyla responded simply, âAlright.â
Her eyes burned with a raw, undisguised malice.
Kyla silently vowed to herself, determined to never let Sadie live a peaceful life.
Across town, Sadie had just arrived back at her home.
The living room was enveloped in silence, broken only by the gentle, rhythmic sound of Averiâs breathing.
Tucked on the sofa, Averi lay wrapped in a cozy blanket, deeply asleep. Moving softly across the room, Sadie carefully adjusted the blanket to ensure Averi stayed warm.
Averiâs calm expression eased some of Sadieâs tension.
She then walked to the window and drew back the curtains to look out at the city lights twinkling in the night, her thoughts swirling. Pulling out her phone, Sadie looked at the calls she had tried to make to Noah.
She had intended to finalize their divorce at court soon, but Noah hadnât responded to any of her attempts to reach him.
She wondered, where could Noah be? Why wasnât he picking up?
A sinking feeling took hold of Sadie, accompanied by a rush of anxiety.
Pausing briefly, she resolved to call Samuel instead.
After two rings, the call connected.
