Chapter 284
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 284:
Morning light seeped through the curtains, softly illuminating the room and revealing the untidy state of the bed.
Sadie had no idea when sleep had taken over. She woke up groggy, rubbing her stiff neck as she pushed herself upright. The laptop remained active, displaying the finalized design draft on its screen.
Relief flooded Sadie as she saw the completed draft. She had managed to finish right on schedule.
Noah was not in the room when she looked around. Apparently, he had left, which brought her a subtle comfort. The closeness they had experienced the previous night had been slightly confusing.
Carefully, Sadie closed her laptop and picked it up, ready to take it to Eva.
As she reached for the doorknob and began to turn it, the door suddenly burst open from the outside. In the doorway stood Kyla.
Seeing Sadie, Kyla raised her hand as if to strike her.
Quickly, Sadie caught Kylaâs wrist, her gaze cold. âMiss Wade, what is this behavior?â
Kyla attempted to pull her wrist away, but Sadieâs grip remained firm.
Kylaâs eyes blazed with anger, and she bared her teeth. âSadie, you are disgusting! You and Noah are divorced, yet youâre still chasing after him? How pathetic!â
With a mocking sneer, Sadie released Kylaâs wrist. âMiss Wade, arenât you the disgusting one, considering youâre the mistress?â
âYouâ!â Kylaâs complexion blanched with fury, her finger shaking as she pointed at Sadie. âWhat makes you so confident? Do you think you can change how things stand? Youâll seeâyouâll achieve nothing!â
Sadie chose not to continue the confrontation and turned to walk away.
âThink you can just walk away? Think again!â
In a sudden move, Kyla lunged at Sadie, shoving her aggressively. At the end of the hallway, there was a small step that Sadie hadnât noticed. Caught off guard, she stumbled backward.
As she lost her footing, the laptop flew from her hands, tracing a parabolic path through the air before landing heavily in the rain outside the hallway.
âNo!â Sadie cried out, horrified as she watched the rain drench her laptop, its screen going dark immediately.
Kyla looked on, a smug grin spreading across her face.
âMuch appreciated, Sadie. Looks like Evaâs project just became mine.â With that, she turned and walked away confidently, radiating triumph.
Sadie stood frozen, her thoughts racing.
The design draft⦠was gone. What was she to do now?
Carefully, Sadie bent down to retrieve the laptop, drenched from the rain. Its screen remained dark, the device feeling cold and heavyâa reflection of her heavy heart.
Nearby, the hibiscus flowers shone brilliantly, revived by the rain. Their petals, dotted with dew, contrasted with the dull backdrop, their vivid hues standing out.
A spark of inspiration lit up Sadieâs eyes as she began to devise a plan.
At the same time, down the corridor, Kyla strode forward, her confident smile intact, her high heels echoing crisply against the floor. As she turned the corner, she caught sight of Noah.
