Chapter 293
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 293:
She never imagined that Nigel still held her in such high regard after three years.
She felt a wave of warmth inside her, and tears suddenly sprang to her eyes.
âHow are you, Nigel?â Sadie asked as she stepped forward, her voice laced with concern.
Nigel turned away from her with a huff, clearly feigning annoyance. âYou wayward girl! Itâs been ages since youâve come to see me. If I didnât know any better, I might have thought youâd forgotten all about me!â
âOf course not,â Sadie quickly replied in a placating tone. âI was just busy with work. Once things have settled down, Iâll be sure to visit more often. I promise, okay?â
âHumph!â Nigel stubbornly kept on with his act, even as a smile began tugging at the corners of his mouth. âThatâs more like it, I suppose.â
Standing off to the side, Kyla seethed as she watched their affectionate interaction.
She had spent the last three years going out of her way to win Nigelâs favor. She had sent him carefully chosen health supplements and expensive giftsânone of them cheap! And yet, not once had she received a kind word from him.
Sadie, on the other hand, just had to say a few words, and the old man was practically beaming. How was that fair?!
Kylaâs hands clenched into fists.
Noah cleared his throat then, breaking the ice. âIs dinner ready yet?â
One of the servants immediately peeled himself from the wall and bowed. âYes, Mr. Wall. The table has been set.â

Hearing this, Nigel grabbed Sadieâs hand and pulled her to the dining room. He didnât even spare Noah a glance.
âJust look at you, my dear! Youâve lost so much weight!â Nigel examined Sadie, his gaze worried yet tender at the same time. He turned to the butler and said, âFetch all my health supplements and have them sent to the Myrtlewood Estate, so that Noah can take good care of Sadie!â
When he turned his attention back to Sadie, his gaze fell on her flat stomach.
âYou two have been married for so many years now,â Nigel said with heartfelt sincerity. âItâs about time you have a child together.â
Sadie felt her cheeks burn at that, and her heart picked up its pace again.
Instead of answering, she picked up the serving spoon and placed a piece of fish on Nigelâs plate. âPlease try this!â
Isabel and Kyla quietly observed from the side, noting how much Nigel cared about Sadie. Their faces soured at the sight.
The meal proceeded in silence for the two women, the food tasting like tasteless dust in their mouths.
After they had eaten, Nigel said decisively, âSadie, letâs visit the memorial hall.â
Isabelâs expression shifted dramatically when she heard this. Despite her many years as a member of the Wall family, she had never been invited to the memorial hall. What made Sadie so special?
Overcome with emotion, Isabel interjected, âNigel, are you sureâ¦?â
Nigelâs stern look quickly silenced her.
He then took Sadie by the hand and rose from his seat. âGabriel, join us,â he commanded Gabriel Black, the butler.
