Chapter 300
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 300:
Inside, Eva lounged on the sofa in a silk robe as vibrant as her personality.
With lazy elegance, she swirled the amber liquid in her wine glass, watching Sadie approach with a glint of amusement. âWell, well, well. Look who is hereâour star designer.â
Setting down her glass, Eva took the folder from Sadieâs hands, her eyes flickering over the exhausted woman before her.
âWhat have you done to yourself these past few days?â Eva clicked her tongue. âHonestly, if I didnât know any better, Iâd think Mr. Wall was mistreating you.â
Sadie let out a faint, weary smileâone that didnât quite reach her eyes. âMs. Shaw, Mr. Wall and I have nothing to do with each other.â
Eva said nothing at first, leisurely flipping through the pages, her slender fingers tapping against the paper now and then.
The room was silent, save for the soft rustling of sheets as she took her time examining the designs.
Sadie stood motionless, palms slightly damp, watching every flicker of Evaâs expression, every subtle movement.
âElegant. Fresh.â Eva glanced up, a glimmer of approval in her eyes. âLike the first bloom of spring.â She closed the folder with a satisfied hum. âYouâve outdone yourself, Sadie. These designs are breathtakingâexactly what this yearâs Starlight Gala needs.â
Then Evaâs lips curled into a smirk. âLetâs move forward with this.â
Relief crashed over Sadie, tension melting from her shoulders.
âThank you, Ms. Shaw,â Sadie said, her voice steady with gratitude. âIâll ensure everything is flawless.â

Eva rose gracefully and stepped closer, resting her hand on Sadieâs shoulder.
âI never doubted you,â she said, her voice smooth as silk. âKeep it up. I expect great things from you.â
Then, with a knowing smile, she added, âBut do try to take better care of yourself. A woman should never let work rob her of her glow.â She lifted her wine glass, taking a languid sip, her gaze drifting toward the window, as if lost in thought.
Sadie stepped out of the estate, her heart lighter than when she arrived. But just as she reached her car, a sharp, mocking voice sliced through the air.
âWell, well⦠look who it is. What are you doing here? Taking a scenic stroll?â
Sadie stilled, her expression cooling as she turned toward the voice. Not far away, Kyla stood with a folder tucked under her arm, a smug smirk playing on her lips.
Clad in a perfectly tailored business suit that accentuated her figure, she might have looked poised and elegantâif not for the malice darkening her expression.
Sadieâs brows furrowed slightly. She was puzzled by Kylaâs persistent hostility. She had already stepped aside from Noahâs life. What more did Kyla want?
Maintaining her composure, Sadie asked coolly, âMiss Wade, is there something you need?â
Kyla scoffed, closing the distance between them, her gaze sharp with provocation.
âSome people are so self-absorbed,â she said with a sneer. âPoor Alexâheâs given everything, only to end up saving an ungrateful bastard.â With that, Kyla swept past Sadie, head held high, her heels clicking against the pavement as she strode toward the estate.
