Chapter 314
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 314:
Sadie opened her eyes to the sight of a cute face just inches away from hers. Averiâs cheek was pressed against her arm, his mouth hanging open slightly as he slept.
Sadie shifted, only to realize that someone else was sleeping behind her. Noah. She found the situation quite surreal, and if she hadnât felt the warmth of both their bodies, she might have thought she was only dreaming.
Sadieâs chest welled with emotion.
There was a time when all she had wanted was to live an ordinary life with Noah and their child, just like any other couple. But then, everything changed.
She would still feel her heart soften at such poignant moments, but she no longer yearned for them to last.
She gently extracted Averi from her arms and got out of bed as quietly as she could.
âGood morning, Mrs. Wall. Have you seen Averi?â
Sadie had just gone out the door when the butler hurried over with a worried expression, his forehead dotted with sweat.
âSlow down. Whatâs wrong?â
âAveri is missing! Weâve searched the entire estate, but we couldnât find him.â The butlerâs voice was trembling, and he looked like he was on the verge of tears.
âOh, itâs all right,â Sadie quickly reassured him. âHeâs in the master bedroom.â Noah had probably brought the boy over last night. How else would Averi end up there when he had his own room?
The butler paused, staring at her for a couple of seconds, then let out a long sigh of relief.
âGoodness, I was so scared! I thought heâd been taken or something.â The poor man patted his chest and took several deep breaths.

Sadie couldnât help but feel guilty. âI apologize for worrying you.â
But the butler waved it off. âNothing to apologize for, Mrs. Wall. The important thing is that Averi is safe. Anyway, breakfast is ready.â
Watching the butlerâs retreating figure, Sadie let out a soft sigh of relief. Swiveling around to head back to the master bedroom and check on Averi, she felt her phone buzz in her pocket.
Pulling it out, she saw Alexâs name flash across the screen, causing her to pause.
âHello?â Sadie answered tentatively, uncertainty threading her voice.
âAre you all right, Sadie? I heardâ¦â Alexâs voice, thick with concern, trailed off as he waited for her reply.
âIâm fine,â Sadie cut in, her tone a delicate balance of reassurance and tension. âWhat about the Howe Group? Everything okay there?â
A sigh of relief echoed from the other end. âDonât worry. Everythingâs under control. The companyâs stable now. No need for you to stress.â
After a slight pause, Alexâs voice softened. âWhere are you now? Are you safe?â
Just as Sadie opened her mouth to reply, a deep, unexpected voice chilled the air behind her.
âSheâs right here in Myrtlewood Estateâwhat danger could possibly exist here?â
Startled, Sadie turned to find Noah looming close behind her, his expression unreadable and his presence almost suffocating.
