Chapter 376
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 376:
âSadie, Iâm almost done with the revisions for the Lawrence Groupâs design drafts. Can you take a look and see if thereâs anything else that needs adjusting?â
Just like that, the suffocating weight of Sadieâs chaotic thoughts was broken.
Sadie inhaled deeply, doing her best to maintain composure.
âOkay, let me see,â she said with a forced smile.
Nanette passed her the design sketches, her eyes lingering on Sadieâs unusually pale face.
âAre you alright? You donât look well.â
âIâm fine. Probably just didnât get enough sleep,â Sadie replied, avoiding Nanetteâs gaze and beginning to study the sketches.
âMake sure you rest. Nothing is more important than your well-being,â Nanette advised with genuine concern.
âYeah, I know,â Sadie replied absentmindedly, her mind far from the papers in front of her.
âOh, by the way, Sadie.â Nanette suddenly remembered something and spoke excitedly. âHave you noticed? All the bad press about our studio is gone!â
Sadieâs fingers froze. Her attention shifted from the sketches to Nanetteâs face.
âGone?â she murmured, her voice hoarse, almost as if she were talking to herself.
Nanette nodded enthusiastically. âYeah! I checked this morning. Every single post and commentâcompletely wiped out, like they never existed.â
A heavy feeling settled in Sadieâs chest, unease creeping up her spine.
That level of erasure wasnât natural.
Someone was behind this.
But who? Her thoughts immediately landed on one nameâNoah.
Once the idea took root, it refused to leave.
Her breathing grew uneven, palms clammy with sweat.
If Noah was responsible, what was his motive? Was he trying to protect her? Or did he have an entirely different reason?
She shook the thought away and forced herself to focus on the sketches.
âAlright, I see.â
Flipping through the pages quickly, Sadie skimmed over the details without truly absorbing them.
Clearing her throat, Sadie returned the drafts to Nanette and said, âThese revisions work. Letâs proceed with them.â
âGot it.â Nanette accepted them, then added, âYou should head home early. You need rest.â
âYou too,â Sadie replied, struggling to sound normal.
As soon as Nanette left, Sadie leaned back in her chair, shutting her eyes. After a long pause, she opened them and glanced at her phone to check the time.
The workday was far from over, but she couldnât stay any longer.
Grabbing her bag, she rose to her feet and left the office, her steps unsteady.
Meanwhile, Kyla and Vivi were talking on the phone.
âKyla, youâre pathetic!â Viviâs voice crackled through the phone, dripping with mockery. âSlimron? Thatâs all you amounted to?â
Kylaâs grip on her phone tightened, nails digging into her palm. âVivi, knock it off! The project in Slimron may not be on the same level as those here, but itâs still a key assignment for Wall Group. Noah entrusted me with this challenge to train me!â
âTrain you?â Vivi scoffed. âHe dumped you in a desolate town, and youâre actually grateful? Youâre so blinded by your feelings for Noah that you canât even see whatâs right in front of you! He sent you away because heâs done with you.â
