Chapter 409
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 409:
Kyla froze, her smile turning stiff. âI understand.â
âLeave,â Noah commanded before turning his attention back to his computer. Biting her lower lip, Kyla turned away and left the office.
As soon as she was back inside her car, Kylaâs pleasant expression morphed into one of utter malice.
She took out the DNA report again. It must never reach Isabel, no matter what, or all her efforts would go to waste.
Kyla took out her phone and dialed a number. âI need you to forge a paternity test, and I want the results to show up negative.â
âNo problem, Miss Wade,â a deep, male voice responded.
Kyla ended the call and proceeded to tear the DNA report into pieces. Then she rolled her window down and tossed the pieces out.
Just then, Samuel happened to be exiting the building. He instantly spotted Kylaâs car parked nearby, and was just in time to see her throw out paper scraps to the ground.
His curiosity was piqued, so he waited until she had driven away before going over. He picked up a handful of the scraps and was able to make out the words, âpaternity test.â
A chill ran through Samuel. His instincts told him that something was not right. He didnât waste any time and immediately called for security. âCollect all these scraps and bring them to my office.â
âYes, Mr. Ford,â a security guard responded, already bending over to gather the paper scraps.
That afternoon, Kyla placed the forged paternity test report into a neat manila envelope. She couldnât resist running her manicured nails over its flap as her lips curled into a triumphant smile.
Then she drove to Wall Manor.

Isabel was in the garden, pruning flowers. She beamed upon seeing the younger woman. âKyla! Come here.â
âIsabel,â Kyla greeted politely before handing over the manila envelope. âThis is⦠wellâ¦â
Puzzled, Isabel took the envelope and pulled out its contents. When she saw the words, âThe alleged father is excluded as the biological fatherâ at the bottom of the report, her face turned ashen. Then she dropped the garden shears she was holding, and they landed on the concrete footpath with a loud, metallic clang.
âHow⦠How is this possible?â Isabel cried out in a trembling voice, her eyes wide with disbelief. She tried to read the report again and again, but the results did not change.
âPlease donât be too upset,â Kyla said, pretending to be concerned. âHere, take a seat first.â
Kyla helped Isabel sit down on a wicker chair and gently stroked the latterâs back. âActually, Iâve been feeling like something was off for a while now.â
âOff? What do you mean?â Isabel clutched Kylaâs hand tightly.
Kyla bit her lower lip and pretended to debate with herself before saying, âWell, think about it. That child is almost three years old.â
Isabel blinked at her at first, until realization hit her. Then her eyes widened, and the color drained from her face. If the child was almost three years old, that meant Sadie had been pregnant with the boy three years ago!
âThat means when she was still with Noah, sheâshe gotâ¦â Isabel choked on her words and didnât get to finish her sentence.
âItâs just a speculation on my part,â Kyla said quietly, lowering her head, though she looked like she had more to say on the matter.
âThat disgrace of a woman!â Isabel shot to her feet, her entire body trembling with rage. âHow dare she turn my son into a cuckold! How dare she!â
âPlease calm down, Isabel,â Kyla said gently. âOur priority for now is to find a way to resolve this issue.â
