Chapter 426
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 426:
Just as he reached the door, he hesitated, turning back slightly.
âSir, Miss Wade has been asking for you. Sheâs hoping you could visitâ¦â
After a tense pause, Noah curtly dismissed him.
âGet out.â
With a sigh of relief, Samuel quickly left the office, eager to escape the oppressive atmosphere.
âBeep⦠Beep⦠Beepâ¦â
Frustrated by the relentless busy tone, Kyla flung her phone onto the plush sofa.
âFools! All of you are fools!â Her body shook with fury.
The phone rang abruptly. She grabbed it, her rage intensifying when she saw âWillardâ on the caller ID.
âHow dare you call me after your blunder?â
From the other end of the line, a rough voice responded with annoyance.
âMiss Wade, thatâs hardly fair. I put my neck on the line for that task, and now you owe me for the effort, even if it didnât pan out. Wouldnât you agree?â
âI owe you? And what exactly are you expecting?â Kyla spat the words out.
âJust a modest two million. Think of it as payment for my effort.â
âTwo million? Youâre delusional!â Kyla retorted. âYou failed the job and then have the cheek to demand a payment?â
âMiss Wade, you should really consider paying, or you might just find yourself regretting itâ¦â Willardâs voice ominously hinted at a threat. âRemember, Iâm capable of a lot.â
Kyla paused, drawing a deep breath to manage her rising anger.
Understanding all too well Willardâs dangerous potential as a criminal, she knew defiance might lead him to reveal her dark secret of attempting murder.

âAlright, youâll get your two million. Just stay out of sight for a while.â
âDeal.â Willard quickly ended the call.
Kyla slumped back onto the sofa, her eyes staring emptily at the ceiling.
First, it was ten million gone, and now, another two million was on its wayâthese were significant sums for her.
Since Isabelâs relocation to the estate on the outskirts, Kyla had lost her regular financial support.
Money was getting tight, and it was critical that she figured out her next move soon.
Kyla agitatedly tousled her hair and paced to the window, staring out at the lively night lights of the city, overwhelmed by a sense of defeat.
âWhy doesnât Noah even look my way? What is it about Sadie that I donât have?â she muttered.
The mere thought of Sadie sparked a surge of bitterness within her.
There was no way she would let Sadie go.
The next day, having finalized her discharge paperwork, Kyla picked up her bag and walked shakily from the hospital.
She squinted against the harsh sunlight, her hand raised to shade her eyes, though the darkness within her didnât lift.
âMiss Wade?â A crisp voice caught her attention.
Lowering her hand, Kyla saw Vivi standing there, impeccably dressed in a business suit, a wrist brace in place.
âMiss Quinn?â Kyla expressed her surprise. âWhat brings you here?â
âIâm here for a check-up,â Vivi explained, gesturing to her wrist. âThis old injury acts up sometimes, especially after long periods of drawing.â
