Chapter 448
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 448:
This figure was Samuel, Noahâs trusted assistant.
With a knowing wink from Noah, Samuel caught on quickly and nodded in acknowledgment.
Once the meal was over, Noah suggested driving Sadie and Averi home.
Sadie hastily refused. âThereâs really no need. Weâll manage on our own.â She was cautious about becoming too involved with Noah.
âItâs quite late, and Iâd rather you two donât travel alone at night,â Noah insisted with calm assurance.
âItâs alright. Weâ¦â Sadie began, but was cut off by Noahâs resolute interjection.
âIâll take you home.â His voice left no room for further discussion.
Reluctantly, Sadie consented.
Exiting the restaurant, they headed toward Noahâs car. Upon trying to start the car, Noah found the engine unresponsive.
Noah, feigning confusion, muttered, âWhatâs wrong with this thing?â Despite multiple attempts, the car remained silent.
âCould it be broken?â Sadie asked.
âThat looks to be the case,â Noah said, his expression one of genuine dismay.
Sadie, growing concerned, wondered aloud, âWhat do we do now?â
âNo worries. Itâs a short walk to your place from here,â Noah suggested, surveying the surroundings.
Glancing at her watch, Sadie noted the lateness of the hour.
After a brief pause, she agreed. âOkay, walking sounds good.â
âJust one second,â Noah said unexpectedly.

Sadie, puzzled, asked, âWhat seems to be the problem?â
Noah replied, his voice tinged with concern, âGiven the hour, itâs unsafe for you and Averi to walk home alone. Allow me to accompany you until youâre home.â His eyes conveyed true concern.
This unexpected offer left Sadie momentarily speechless.
This behavior was uncharacteristic for the Noah she thought she knew.
Emotions swelled within Sadie.
Facing Noahâs earnest gaze, she found herself at a loss for words.
âIâm not sure about this plan,â Sadie said, her voice wavering.
Noah responded confidently, âWhy hesitate? As Averiâs⦠friend, itâs my responsibility to ensure you both get home safely.â His face bore a look of obvious certainty.
Sadie opened her mouth as if to protest, but then thought better of it.
Reluctantly, she responded, âOkay, fine.â
She grasped Averiâs hand, and together with Noah, they started their walk home. The streetlights cast long shadows of them on the ground.
With one hand in Sadieâs and the other in Noahâs, Averi walked between them, his expression filled with joy.
A subtle smile played on Noahâs lips, his eyes reflecting a trace of contentment.
All of a sudden, Averi halted and said, âMommy, Iâm too tired to walk.â
âIâll carry you,â Sadie said, bending down swiftly.
âNo, allow me,â Noah interjected, lifting Averi into his arms effortlessly.
âThank you, Mr. Wall,â Averi sweetly expressed his gratitude.
Noah replied with a gentle voice, âYouâre welcome.â Continuing their journey, he carried Averi.
