Chapter 468
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 468:
âI know,â Sadie responded, her voice slightly hoarse yet her eyes resolute. âBut, Ms. Shaw, I really have no other option. I need to win. I must safeguard my child and stand up for myself.â
Her voice quavered towards the end, verging on a sob.
Eva regarded her with a complex expression, emotions flickering in her gaze. âYou, my dearâ¦â Eva sighed softly, her smile tinged with resignation. âIt seems⦠too hard to refuse you.â
Sadieâs head shot up, a flicker of hope in her eyes. She gazed at Eva, barely daring to believe what she had heard.
âHoweverâ¦â Evaâs tone shifted again. âSadie, you must understand, assisting you means Iâm opposing the Wall family and Kyla directly. That poses a significant risk for me.â
âI understand, Ms. Shaw,â Sadie quickly said, her voice laced with urgency. âMs. Shaw, I⦠I wonât expect you to help without something in return.â
She wanted to offer Eva money, but the gesture seemed inadequate. Given Evaâs stature, monetary rewards likely held little appeal.
âYou donât need to mention that,â Eva interjected, waving her hand dismissively. âIâm helping you not for money or any other gain. Itâs simply that I admire your talent and empathize with your situation. More importantlyâ¦â
She paused, her gaze intensifying. âI refuse to watch a promising designer like you be suppressed and wasted.â
Tears sprang to Sadieâs eyes. She looked at Eva, her heart swelling with gratitude and respect.
âThank you, Ms. Shaw,â she managed to say, her voice shaky. âThank you for your trust and for your willingness to help.â
âAlright, no need for tears, Sadie.â Eva smiled, shaking her head as she passed a tissue from the coffee table. âWipe your tears. Youâre competing in the International Jewelry Design Competition. You need to show your strength, not your tears.â

Sadie accepted the tissue, dabbed at her eyes, and took a deep breath to steady herself.
âI wonât let you down, Ms. Shaw.â
Eva nodded, pleased. âI believe in you.â
âThen⦠I should go now, Ms. Shaw.â Sadie stood, giving Eva a deep bow. âAfter the contest, I will express my gratitude properly.â
âGo on,â Eva said with a smile. âIâll be looking forward to your success.â
With one more word of thanks, Sadie turned and left the living room. She exited the villa and approached the black car that waited outside. Her expression tightened involuntarily at the sight of it. She hadnât expected it to still be there.
With no other transportation options available on the mountain, she sighed in resignation, opened the car door, and slid inside.
âWhere to now, Mrs. Wall?â the driver inquired respectfully.
Sadie gazed out the window, her mind adrift.
âBack to my studio, please.â
The driver started the engine. Sadie leaned back, closing her eyes slowly, trying to distance herself from the emotional weight of her recent conversation with Eva.
âBuzz⦠Buzzâ¦â Her phoneâs sudden vibration jarred her from her thoughts. Opening her eyes, Sadie retrieved her phone from her bag, noticing an unfamiliar number on the display. She hesitated briefly before answering. âHello?â
âThis is Vivi.â The voice was familiar yet distant, tinged with a mix of arrogance and challenge.
Sadie furrowed her brows. Vivi? Why was she calling now?
âVivi? What do you want?â Sadieâs tone was icy, edged with caution. She and Vivi were competitors, typically staying out of each otherâs way.
