Chapter 475
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 475:
âI couldnât agree more.â
The crowd kept lavishing Noah with praise.
He responded with a polite, distant smile, his demeanor cool and detached.
Just then, a familiar figure made her way toward him.
Vivi, in a stunning red gown that highlighted her elegant posture, approached. Her makeup was perfect, enhancing her striking beauty.
âMr. Wall, what a coincidence to see you here,â she said, her voice softly flirtatious.
A business associate, unaware of the truth, asked, âMr. Wall, is this your wife?â With a slight frown, Noah cast a glance at Vivi and stated flatly, âNo, she is not.â His words quenched the roomâs enthusiasm.
The business associateâs smile faltered, and he uttered an apology. âIâm sorry, Mr. Wall. That was presumptuous of me.â He quickly excused himself.
Viviâs confident demeanor slipped, but she swiftly recovered, teasing, âMr. Wall, youâre as unromantic as ever.â
Noah remained silent, his gaze fixed on her.
Under his scrutiny, Vivi appeared slightly uncomfortable. She changed the subject. âDo you know, while I was abroad, Sadie and I worked together at Majestic Ego for three years?â
Noahâs expression tightened.
âWhatâs that look for? Are you intrigued now?â Vivi laughed playfully, noticing his reaction.
âItâs too noisy here. Shall we go upstairs to talk?â she suggested, catching a glint of interest in Noahâs eyes.
Noahâs frown deepened. He was discomforted by being seen through. Yet, he agreed, nodding slightly.
They ascended the staircase, the roomâs eyes trailing them, filled with curiosity. In the VIP lounge above, Vivi poured a glass of wine for Noah.
âMr. Wall, try this. Itâs specially prepared for you,â she said, offering Noah the glass with a smile.
Noah took a tentative sip. The wine was bold and spicy, with a lingering richness.
âBack at Majestic Ego, Sadie and I were inseparable,â Vivi reminisced, her voice colored with nostalgia. âWe worked, shopped, and dined togetherâalmost like sisters.â
Noah listened without interruption.
âSadie is exceptionally talented and diligent,â Vivi continued, a hint of envy in her tone. âHer designs were always lauded, and she had this allure that just drew people to herâ¦â Time seemed to stretch on.
âTake your time, Mr. Wall,â Vivi whispered, her voice cutting through the quiet with a flirtatious edge.
Noah seemed tipsy, his frown indicating a struggle to piece his thoughts together.
The alcohol numbed Noahâs senses, leaving his mind scattered. The only thing he could clearly recall was Vivi endlessly chattering about Sadie and Majestic Ego. Yet, deep down, just one name occupied his thoughtsâSadie.
âMr. Wall, are you okay?â Vivi noticed the way Noah fixated on her in silence, his stare unwavering and intense, sending a chill down her spine. She hesitated before cautiously resting her hand on his arm, testing for a reaction. âDid you⦠have too much to drink?â
Noah remained unresponsive. His body felt heavier with each passing second, his eyelids drooping. Instinct urged him to move away, but his limbs refused to obey.
âMr. Wall, youâ¦â Viviâs hand trailed up to his chest, her fingers toying with his shirt buttons, teasingly. She sensed a faint tremor run through him. A thrill sparked within herâthis was her chance!
She inched closer, lips slightly parted, her warm breath brushing against his skin as she whispered, âMr. Wallâ¦â
