Chapter 530
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 530:
âUnderstood, Mr. Wall,â Samuel responded with respect.
Noah said nothing further and abruptly ended the call.
As dusk settled and the city lights cast a warm glow, Myrtlewood Estate was enveloped in a cozy yellow light, creating a tranquil atmosphere throughout.
Returning home exhausted, Noah draped his coat over the sofa and loosened his tie, attempting to alleviate the dayâs tension.
He had spent the day resolving a conflict with Howe Group at the office and clandestinely planning against those who had hurt Sadie, leaving him both physically and emotionally spent.
Yet, thoughts of Sadie softened his expression.
She constantly filled his thoughts and tugged at his heartstrings.
âTap⦠Tap⦠Tapâ¦â The sound of light footsteps broke through Noahâs reverie. Looking up, he saw Averi running out of the playroom, his arms brimming with colorful building blocks.
âMr. Wall!â Averiâs voice was soft and innocent, a melody to Noahâs ears.
He scampered to Noahâs side, looking up with wide, eager eyes. âYouâre back, Mr. Wall!â
Noahâs heart melted immediately. He crouched down, lifted Averi into his arms, and affectionately nuzzled his cheek.
âYes, Iâm back,â Noah replied, his voice deep and soothing, with a touch of fondness.
Averi nestled into Noahâs embrace, finding a snug spot, and resumed his play with the building blocks.
He carefully placed a red block atop a blue one, then added a yellow block on top, murmuring to himself, âA house. A tall houseâ¦â
Observing Averiâs earnest expression, Noah couldnât help but smile.

He found the little boy utterly charming.
He reached out and gently patted Averiâs head, savoring the softness of his hair.
Suddenly, Averi paused, looked up with wide eyes, and asked innocently, âMr. Wall, whereâs Mommy?â
Noahâs smile faltered, and his heart sank.
He was at a loss for words.
How should he explain?
How could he tell Averi about his motherâs condition?
His throat tightened, and he struggled to find the right words.
Looking into Averiâs trusting eyes, Noah felt a sharp pang of guilt.
âMr. Wall?â Averiâs soft voice broke through the silence, filled with confusion. Noah snapped back to the present, pushing down his emotions to maintain a calm appearance.
He tousled Averiâs hair affectionately, his voice melting into a tender whisper.
âMommy⦠Mommy is on a business trip.â
He paused, then said, âSheâs gone to a place far away and will be back after a little while.â
âA business trip?â Averi tilted his head, puzzled by the term.
âWhen will Mommy come back?â he asked, his voice laden with hope.
âVery soon,â Noah reassured him, striving to sound upbeat. âShe told me she would bring you lots of gifts.â Noah spoke, aiming to keep his voice light and cheerful to prevent Averi from sensing anything was wrong.
âReally?â Averiâs eyes sparkled with excitement, and he clapped his hands joyfully. âThatâs great! Mommyâs going to bring me gifts. I have to tell Ewing; heâll be so jealous.â
