Chapter 534
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 534:
Her earlier gloom morphed into confusion and anger.
Why would Noah do such a thing?
But there was no time to dwell on it. Sadie took a deep breath to steady herself and calm her mind.
She couldnât waste her energy blaming Noah; she needed to get to her grandmother as soon as possible.
Laura was her only source of support in this world. She couldnât lose her.
When Sadie was finally calm enough to think clearly, she began to figure out a way to leave the hospital without a hitch.
Noah had gone to great lengths to prevent her from hearing such important news. It was only par for the course for him to have set up surveillance around her room, the entire hospital even, just to keep an eye on her.
If she acted rashly, she might be discovered before she could actually do anything.
Just then, a series of knocks came at the door.
Sadieâs heart skipped a beat. She felt her body tense up, and her fingers tightened around her phone.
âCome in,â she called out in the calmest voice she could manage. The door opened, and a young nurse walked in. She gave Sadie a professional smile as she walked over with a tray of medications.
âIâm here to change your dressing, Miss Hudson,â the nurse said kindly.
Sadie said nothing and just watched her with wary eyes.
Sensing her apprehension, the nurse smiled again and said, âPlease relax, Miss Hudson. I was sent by Mr. Howe to assist you.â
âMr. Howe? Did she mean Alex?â
Sadieâs eyes widened slightly. She peered at the nurse, trying to figure out whether the latter was lying or not.

The nurse seemed to read her mind. She produced a note from her pocket and handed it to Sadie.
âMr. Howe asked me to give this to you.â
Sadie took the note and quickly glanced at it. The handwriting was indeed Alexâs.
âFollow the plan, and be careful.â
Those few words were all it took to dispel most of Sadieâs doubts.
She looked back up at the nurse and nodded. âI see.â
The nurse breathed a small sigh of relief.
âPlease donât worry, Miss Hudson. I will help you leave the hospital.â She drew closer and added in a quieter voice, âI brought an extra nurseâs uniform. Change into it, put on a mask, and follow me. The guards posted outside your door are changing shifts. They wonât be paying much attention. I already planned the route youâre going to take. Just do as I say, and youâll be out of the hospital in no time.â
The nurse pointed outside, and Sadieâs gaze followed the direction of her hand.
âYou will go from here, walk straight down the corridor, then turn left at the end. You will go down the stairs and exit through the back door on the first floor. Someone is already waiting there for you.â
Sadie listened carefully and made sure to memorize the nurseâs instructions.
She was going to take the risksâall for her grandmotherâs sake.
âI understand,â Sadie said with resolve.
Getting out of bed, she quickly shed her hospital gown and slid into the nurseâs uniform. It was a bit loose on her, but it had no significant impact on her movements.
Next, she put on the mask, which covered most of her face.
