Chapter 539
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 539:
Sadie stiffened. She hadnât expected the woman to be aware of her blindness.
This revelation made her even more uneasy. She didnât know who this woman was or what she intended.
âWhat⦠What do you want from me?â Sadie tried to sound bold despite her fear.
The woman stood, then called over her shoulder, âYou guys, come here.â Following her command, Sadie heard multiple footsteps approaching, intensifying the sense of danger around her.
Though she was unable to see, she could feel a menacing presence radiating from them.
âThese are my friends,â the woman said, her voice oozing malice. âThey havenât had the company of a woman in a long time. Theyâll have their fun with you today.â
Sadie turned pale, understanding the womanâs vile intentions. She couldnât believe someone could be so malevolent, wanting to degrade her in such a manner.
âDonât you dare!â Sadie shouted, her voice laced with defiance but also fear. âDo you know who I am? You will regret this.â
âWho are you?â The woman cackled, as if Sadieâs claim was a joke. âWho do you think you are? Youâre just a woman whoâs been abandoned. A blind one, at that. A nobody.â
âYouâ¦â Sadieâs voice trembled with anger at the womanâs taunts, her desire to retaliate stifled by her helplessness.
âEnough talk. Letâs start,â a rough male voice said impatiently. âIâm eager to have my fun with her.â
âRight, boss. Sheâs quite the prize. This is going to be enjoyable,â another voice added, thick with lewd anticipation. Sadieâs entire body began to shake with fear.
âDonât worry, sweetheart. Weâll take good care of you,â a third man said as he advanced towards Sadie, reaching out to touch her face. Sadieâs eyes snapped open, her face contorted with fury and despair. âGet back! Donât touch me!â she screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice raw with desperation.
âWow! Youâre quite fierce, arenât you?â the man exclaimed, visibly startled by Sadieâs reaction, yet quickly breaking into laughter. âBut I like it.â

As he spoke, he reached out to grab Sadieâs arm.
Just then, the woman interrupted. âHold on.â
The man paused, his hand mid-air, and turned to the woman in confusion. âWhatâs the matter, boss?â
âDonât rush into it.â
The woman approached Sadie, crouched down, and with icy fingers, gripped her chin, forcing her to look up.
âArenât you curious about your grandmotherâs condition? Your grandmother⦠sheâs already dead.â
Sadieâs pupils narrowed sharply, and a wave of pain pierced her heart, overwhelming her, leaving her struggling to breathe.
âWhat⦠What did you say?â Sadieâs voice trembled as she spoke.
âI said, your grandmother is dead,â the woman said slowly, her tone cold and harsh. âShe was hit by a car, and it was gruesome.â
âNo⦠impossible⦠This canât be trueâ¦â
Sadie began to shake, disbelief and denial coursing through her.
She murmured to herself, âYouâre lying⦠You must be lyingâ¦â
âLying?â The woman scoffed. âWhy would I need to lie to you? Your grandmotherâs death frees you from her care; you can chase after any man you want now.â
âYou⦠Youâre spouting nonsense!â Tears streamed down Sadieâs face. âMy grandmother loves me dearly; how could I ever wish for her death? Youâre evil, and karma will find you!â
âKarma will find me?â The woman laughed, a sound devoid of warmth. âSadie, youâre in no position to threaten me. Think about what youâll do next.â
