Chapter 547
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 547:
Sadie lay quietly on the bed, her eyes closed, her complexion ghostly pale.
It appeared she was sleeping, yet she seemed lost in a world of her own, unresponsive to her surroundings.
Noah paused after reading each passage, his gaze lingering on her.
âSadie,â he whispered gently.
But still, there was no response.
Her eyelashes twitched slightly, reminiscent of a butterflyâs delicate wings.
A sharp pang gripped Noahâs heart, as if it were being squeezed by an unseen hand.
He resumed reading, also sharing snippets of the outside world.
âSadie, the weather is beautiful todayâbright sunshine and a gentle breeze. The hospital garden is bursting with vibrant flowers. Once youâre better, Iâll take you there. What do you think? Also, the new project at my company is going well. Everyoneâs putting in a lot of effort. Weâll have a celebration when youâre better, okay?â
Noahâs voice faded into silence.
He took Sadieâs hand in his, noting its chill.
He clasped it between his palms, trying to transfer some warmth.
âAhem⦠Ahemâ¦â A discreet cough from the doorway announced Breckâs presence. He was holding a bowl of steaming tonic soup while standing at the door.
âMr. Wall, itâs time for Mrs. Wallâs tonic,â Breck said quietly.
Noah nodded, accepting the bowl. He gently spooned some soup to Sadieâs lips.
âSadie, try to have some soup. Itâs good for you,â he said softly, as if comforting a child.

Sadie remained still, her eyes closed.
Patiently, Noah continued to feed her, one spoonful at a time. The soup was bitter, causing Sadieâs eyebrows to knit together slightly, though she offered no resistance or attempt to spit it out.
A warm feeling spread through Noahâs chest.
After she had taken all the soup, Noah delicately wiped her mouth with a napkin.
His touch was careful and tender, as if he were handling something precious.
âMr. Wall, about Averiâ¦â Breck began hesitantly.
âWhat about Averi?â Noahâs brow furrowed.
âHeâs insisting on seeing Mrs. Wall. Weâve tried to soothe him, but heâs adamant,â Breck explained, his expression troubled.
Noah paused for a moment before responding, âBring him here.â Breck hesitated, then voiced his concern. âBut, Mrs. Wallâs current condition⦠Iâm worriedâ¦â
âItâs okay,â Noah said quickly. âLet him come. Maybe he can reach Sadie.â
Breck nodded and left to fetch Averi.
Soon after, Breck returned with Averi in tow.
Averi, clad in pajamas adorned with cartoon characters, rubbed his eyes, looking puzzled.
âMr. Wall, whatâs wrong with Mommy?â Averi asked innocently, standing beside the bed and gazing at Sadie.
Noah lifted Averi onto the bed next to Sadie.
âMommy is very sick and needs to rest,â Noah explained gently.
âMommy is sick? When will she be better?â Averiâs small face was filled with concern.
âMommy will feel like herself again soon,â Noah reassured him, stroking his head.
Averi gently touched Sadieâs cheek with his little hand.
âMommy, I miss you so much. Please get well soon,â he whispered, his voice breaking slightly.
