Chapter 554
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 554:
âMommy, donât cry, Great-grandma said sheâs fine,â Averi chimed in, hugging Sadieâs leg, his voice filled with sincerity.
Sadie looked down at Averi, wiped away her tears, and managed a smile. âOkay, Mommy wonât cry anymore.â
âMy dear, are you hungry?â Laura asked affectionately, turning her attention to Sadie. âTell me what youâd like to eat. Grandma will make it for you.â
Sadieâs face brightened slightly. She sniffed and responded, âCould I have your pot roast, glazed chicken, andâ¦â
She listed several dishes, all favorites from her childhood.
âOf course, of course. Iâll make them all.â Laura chuckled, her eyes twinkling with delight. âJust relax, and let Grandma take care of the cooking.â
With a sense of purpose, Laura rolled up her sleeves, prepared to head into the kitchen.
âGrandma, let me help you,â Sadie quickly said.
âNo need, dear. You spend some time with Averi,â Laura declined gently, smiling. âThe kitchen will be all smoky. You wonât like it.â
âBut Grandma, I really want to helpâ¦â Sadie began, only to be interrupted by Laura.
âBe a good girl, will you?â Laura said with a kind smile. âGo on now. Iâve got this.â
Sadie gazed into Lauraâs kind eyes and nodded. âAlright, Grandma. Iâll listen to you.â
Laura hoped to ease Sadieâs worries and wanted her to spend more time with Averi.
âThatâs my good girl,â Laura said, smiling as she gently patted Sadieâs head before heading into the kitchen.
Watching her grandmother walk away, Sadie felt a surge of warmth and gratitude.
It was comforting to have her grandmother around.

Sadie took Averiâs hand and led him to the living room.
âAveri, letâs play with some toys,â she suggested, smiling.
âGreat!â Averi exclaimed, clapping his hands with excitement.
Sadie spent some time playing with Averi, sharing a few stories with him.
From the kitchen, the sounds of Laura cooking mingled with the enticing aroma of the food, soothing Sadieâs spirit.
In the study, Noah stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, a frown creasing his brow as he held his phone.
He called Samuel.
âHello, Mr. Wall,â Samuelâs voice came through the phone, respectful as always.
âContact Alex,â Noah instructed, his voice firm and cold. âTell him Iâm willing to collaborate with him.â
âCollaborate?â Samuelâs voice betrayed his surprise. He was clearly not expecting such a decision from Noah. âMr. Wall, are you sure? Alex isâ¦â
âIâm sure,â Noah cut him off, his tone decisive.
âUnderstood, Mr. Wall,â Samuel responded. âIâll reach out to Alex immediately.â
âAlright,â Noah concluded, ending the call.
In his dimly lit room, Alex sat dejectedly on a sofa, the faint light barely illuminating the space through heavy curtains.
He stared blankly at the floor, clutching his old phoneâhis only connection to the outside.
Suddenly, the phone screen lit up with an anonymous message. âCollaboration is possible, and the Howe family foundation can be preserved, but the patriarch of the Howe family must change.â
