Chapter 571
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 571:
âButââ
âDonât say anything else, Vivi,â Moses interrupted, his tone firmer this time. âEverything has been decided. You have no choice in the matter.â
Vivi closed her eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks.
âEnough!â Moses suddenly snapped. âStop crying. Make the coffee and bring it out.â
âYes, Dad.â Vivi wiped her tears away and swallowed the sorrow and indignation she felt.
Once the coffee was ready, she prepared a tray and carried it out of the kitchen.
Damian and Anson had made themselves at home in the living room, and they were happily chatting away with her father.
âPlease have some coffee,â Vivi said as she placed the tray on the table in front of them.
âVivi is such a dutiful and considerate young lady,â Damian remarked with a smile. âAnson, make sure you treat her well in the future.â
âOf course, I will, Grandpa.â Anson turned to Vivi, his eyes twinkling with something akin to admiration.
Vivi felt awkward under his gaze. She lowered her head, avoiding eye contact.
âMoses, I think these two are quite a match. Why donât weâ¦â Damian raised his eyebrows and shot Moses a meaningful look.
âActually, Damian,â Moses said, âVivi has just recently returned from abroad. She isnât all that familiar with the situation in Helva yet. Why donât we let these two young ones spend some time together first? Once they get used to each other, then we can discussâ¦â
Marriage.â Moses didnât want to pressure his daughter too much. She was his only daughter, after all, and he still wanted her to be happy.
âThat sounds good,â Damian agreed. âThey do need some time to get to know each other.â
âThen itâs settled.â Moses beamed. âVivi, see our friends out.â
âYes, Dad.â Vivi rose and followed the two men to the front door.
After seeing them off, Vivi turned and walked back to the living room.
âDad, do you really want me to marry Anson?â she demanded, her eyes flashing with defiance. âAre they really worth that much?â Once she started speaking her mind, she couldnât seem to stop. âTheyâre just a materials supplier. Theyâre practically nothing compared to the Wall family.â
Vivi paused before continuing, her tone laced with frustration. âDad, havenât you always wanted me to marry Noah? Why are you now asking me to marry Anson? Donât you remember that Noah is our ideal choice?â
âEnough!â Moses snapped, his voice sharp with anger. âDo you think I donât want that? But do you even have what it takes?â
His eyes bored into Vivi, disappointment evident. âYouâve had countless opportunities to win Noah over, yet what did you accomplish? You couldnât even outshine someone as insignificant as Sadie.â
âDadâ¦â Viviâs words caught in her throat. She was unable to refute her fatherâs scolding.
âListen carefully,â Moses said, his voice firm. âIâm giving you just one more month. If you fail to secure Noahâs heart, you will marry Anson without complaint.â
âDadâ¦â Viviâs eyes glistened with despair. âYou canât force me into thisâ¦â
âWhy canât I?â Mosesâs tone turned icy.
