Chapter 612
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 612:
Thinking on her feet, Laura quickly darted behind some bushes just before Noah emerged through the door.
Laura had overheard everything in the cafe. Three years ago? Her granddaughter Sadie had actually faced so much injustice three years ago!
Determined not to let Sadie suffer any further, Laura resolved to confront Kyla.
Kyla wiped her tears away. She couldnât just abandon everything in Jazmah; as long as she could buy some time, there was still a chance to turn things around. She staggered out of the cafe and headed toward the sidewalk. Laura stepped out from behind the greenery, thermos in hand, and quickly followed Kyla.
At the traffic light, Kyla stood waiting impatiently.
âMiss, please wait a moment,â Laura, catching her breath, called out as she approached.
Kyla turned, annoyance creasing her brow at the sight of an elderly lady with a thermos. She didnât recognize Laura.
âDo you need something?â Kyla asked, her tone brusque.
âIâm Sadieâs grandmother,â Laura explained, her voice as kind and gentle as she could manage. âI overheard your conversation in the cafe just now.â
Kylaâs complexion turned ashen. She remembered Laura now. It was because of her that Noah had almost ended her life back then.
âMiss, please let it go,â Laura implored earnestly, âForcing someoneâs affection is futile. Noah doesnât love you. Clinging to him wonât change his feelings.â
A sinister look flickered in Kylaâs eyes. Let go? How could she let go? How could she possibly let go after everything sheâd sacrificed for Noah?
âPlease, stop harming Sadie. Sheâs innocent and doesnât deserve this. Iâm begging you, please!â
âInnocent?â Kyla scoffed, her voice laced with scorn. âShe took everything from me, and you call her innocent?â

Her anger surged, and she glared at Laura with intense disdain. In her mind, all her misfortunes were because of Sadie.
âGet out of my way!â
Kyla shoved Laura aside and attempted to leave.
Laura lost her balance and staggered, crying out as she nearly fell. âAh!â At that moment, a car sped toward them.
Laura was struck and sent flying through the air, landing hard on the ground. The thermos she had been carrying tumbled from her grasp, its contents spilling across the pavement. It all happened in a flash.
Kyla stood frozen, her mind blank from shock. After a moment, she stumbled back, then turned and fled into the crowd.
Lauraâs consciousness began to wane. She struggled to remain awake, her eyes on Kylaâs retreating figure. Finally, her eyes slowly closed.
At the hospital, Sadie inquired urgently, âExcuse me, how is Amy Flores doing?â
The nurse checked her clipboard and offered a reassuring smile. âMs. Floresâs surgery was very successful. The brain specialists Mr. Wall brought from abroad managed to repair the damaged nerves. If her recovery goes well, she should be waking up soon.â
Sadie was surprised. Noah had taken her back to Myrtlewood Estate for a meal before letting her come to the hospital because he wanted to surprise her?
A warm feeling surged in her heart.
Suddenly, she felt a twitch in her chest. What was happening?
