Chapter 624
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 624:
Sadie steeled herself and replied, âThis afternoon at three, the Wiffenk Diner.â It was a restaurant she used to frequent with her grandmother.
âIâll see you then, Miss Hudson.â
When Sadie hung up, she was filled with a renewed sense of determination. No matter what it took, she had to find Kyla.
Three oâclock. The Wiffenk Diner.
Sadie caught sight of Xavier as soon as she entered the restaurant. He had settled on a window seat. He saw her at the same time and quickly got to his feet.
âGood afternoon, Miss Hudson.â
Sadie was silent as she took her seat and studied the man in front of her.
Without wasting any time, Xavier produced a stack of documents from his bag and placed them on the table.
âI understand how you must be feeling at the moment, Miss Hudson, but there are some things you need to see for yourself.â
Sadieâs eyes fell on the papers, but she made no move to pick them up. âWhere is she?â she asked bluntly.
She wasnât interested in any long-winded condolences. All she wanted to know was Kylaâs location.
Xavier sighed. âI sincerely apologize, Miss Hudson. We havenât found the target yet.â
As if sensing her displeasure, he quickly changed his tone. âBut we have uncovered some information about Kylaâs past that might prove useful to you.â
Sadie nodded slightly, prompting him to continue.
Xavier rifled through the report and pulled out a handful of photos, which he handed to her.

âSix years ago, Kyla went abroad and got involved with someone named Ryder Clifford. According to our investigation, Ryder was responsible for the car accident you had three years ago. Heâs dead now, and the last person he saw was Kyla.â
Sadie stared at the pictures of the man with a menacing face. Her fingers tightened around the photos.
So, it was all Kylaâs doing.
Not only had she caused Lauraâs death, but she had actually attempted on Sadieâs life before.
âWhat else did you discover?â Sadie asked.
Xavier produced a few more photos and a document.
âThere is also the matter from ten years ago involving Mrs. Wall, Noahâs mother. Mrs. Wall was swindled and lost a large sum of money. Kyla helped her win the lawsuit and get ample compensation. In truth, however, Kyla orchestrated everything from the start.â
A look of irony crossed Sadieâs eyes. If Kyla had dared to commit murder, what wouldnât she have dared to do? It was likely because of that fake scam that Isabelâs attitude toward Kyla had changed.
âRest assured, Miss Hudson, we are doing everything we can to find Kyla.â Xavier gave her an apologetic look before rubbing his hands together. âAnyway, about the expensesâ¦â
Sadie wordlessly pulled a thick envelope out of her purse and placed it on the table. âPlease keep our transaction confidential.â
Xavier quickly pocketed the money, his lips curling into a broad smile. âOf course, Miss Hudson. That goes without saying. I am very discreet with my operations.â
