Chapter 626
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 626:
Then he leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes, relishing the brief respite.
âYou need a break, Mr. Wall. Youâve been dealing with your grandfatherâs funeral and other family matters these past few days. Perhaps you should head back to Myrtlewood Estate for now?â Samuel suggested, his concern evident in his tone.
How could one man, even one as strong as Noah, endure so much strain in such a short time?
Noah opened his eyes. âFine,â he said coldly. âAny news about the Quinn and Olson families?â
âThe Quinn family has filed for bankruptcy, while the Jenkins family launched an attack on the Olson family. Anson disappeared in the aftermath, and now most of the Olson familyâs assets have fallen into the hands of the Jenkins family.â
Noah hummed his approval.
At the entrance of the international kindergarten, Averi, with a tiny backpack on his back, darted through the gates. âMommy!â he cried out as he launched himself into his motherâs embrace.
Sadie caught him and stroked his head. âLetâs go home, sweetheart.â Mother and son walked down the pavement hand in hand.
They soon reached a less crowded area, and just as Sadie was about to ask Averi what he wanted for dinner, a disheveled woman suddenly charged at them from the alley. She was brandishing a small kitchen knife, aimed directly at Sadieâs chest.
âGo to hell, Sadie Hudson!â the woman screeched, her voice filled with a frenzied hatred.
Sadieâs eyes flashed.
Her body reacted instinctively, and before she even knew it, she had pulled Averi behind her.

Before the blade could even come close, however, a group of black-clad bodyguards emerged from the shadows and subdued the assailant. It all happened so fast that it hadnât even occurred to Sadie to fear the situation.
It wasnât until the danger had passed that she realized her body was trembling.
âItâs all right, Averi. Weâre all right. Weâre safe now.â
The little boy looked terrified as he clung to his motherâs neck. He was shaking as well, and his eyes were filled with tears, though he did his best to keep them from falling.
With an aching heart, Sadie soothed Averi as best as she could. âYou did well, darling. Youâre such a good boy. Mommy will buy you some candy later. How does that sound?â
Once he had calmed down and Sadie had made sure that he wasnât hurt, she gently set Averi down. He obediently nodded when she told him to stay put.
Then, Sadie faced her attacker, only to realize that the crazed woman before her was none other than Vivi.
The bodyguards had her pinned to the ground, but she continued to writhe and scream. âYou need to die, Sadie! You bitch!â
Sadie scoffed and shook her head. She had no idea what she could have done to Vivi to garner this much loathing.
âPlease keep your distance, Mrs. Wall,â one of the men warned her.
âThis woman has obviously lost her mind.â
âSheâs out of her wits; how much harm could she possibly do me?â Sadie countered in a mocking tone.
Needless to say, the remark provoked Vivi further, and she struggled even harder.
