Chapter 636
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 636:
Isabel, for her part, gazed at the charming little boy, and felt a comforting warmth slowly spread across her chest. She crouched down so she could meet Averiâs eyes and spoke in a gentle voice, âHello, Averi. I am your grandmother.â
Now that she had the chance, Isabel studied Averiâs face closely. The more she looked, the more she noticed the similarities he bore with Noah when her son was still a child. Isabel couldnât help but berate herself for her past foolishness. How could she have fallen for Kylaâs trickery so easily?
Overcome with guilt and regret, she reached out and gathered Averi into her arms.
âIâm sorry, Averi,â Isabel whispered, her voice thick with emotion. Averi had no idea what his grandmother was apologizing for, but he could feel her genuine affection for him.
He raised his tiny hand and touched her face. âDonât cry, Grandma.â
Isabel could no longer hold her tears back when he said that. Sadie watched Isabel embrace Averi, unsure of what she was feeling herself.
She turned to Samuel and tipped her head toward the study. âCome with me,â she said, her voice tired.
Samuel nodded before trailing after her.
Once inside the study, Sadie settled behind the desk and spoke bluntly. âI need you to prepare a dossier containing detailed information on everyone from Coyleâs family. Iâll be going to the company tomorrow, and I need to know the people Iâll be dealing with.â
Samuel understood her intentions in an instant.
âCopy that, Mrs. Wall. Iâll get right on it.â He excused himself with a respectful bow and exited the study.
Sadie wandered to her bedroom, intending to change her clothes. She had just pulled a beige suit from the wardrobe when the bedroom door creaked open.
Startled, she clutched the clothes to her chest and whipped around. It was Isabel, looking far less cold and arrogant. If anything, she seemed oddly at peace.

âDo you need something, Isabel?â Sadie asked tentatively.
The older woman nodded in response as she walked into the room and sat on the sofa.
âIâm not leaving, Sadie,â Isabel said, sounding like an entirely different person.
Sadie was so surprised that she nearly dropped her clothes altogether.
Not leaving? What did that mean?
As if reading her mind, Isabel added, âIâm planning to move back to Wall Manor. Youâre slated to take over the Wall Group, so you will no doubt be busy. You may not have time to spare for Averi. Iâll stay and help take care of him while youâre busy. I am his grandmother, after all.â
Her tone was calm, but her gaze was earnest and sincere.
For a while, Sadie could do nothing more than stare.
âIâll take Averi back to Wall Manor tonight,â Isabel said, noticing Sadieâs silence.
Sadie remained quiet for a moment before sighing softly. She had been through a lot recently and was exhausted. Indeed, she didnât have much energy left to take care of Averi. âAlright,â she nodded, accepting Isabelâs suggestion.
A faint smile appeared on Isabelâs face, signaling her relief. âTake care of yourself as well. Donât wear yourself out,â Isabel advised with a tone of concern. âAs for Noahâ¦â
Her voice dropped, and her expression turned somber. âHeâs been admitted to Rosewood Hospital, and I canât visit him either. Now, all we can do is wait for him to wake up.â
