Chapter 655
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 655:
Sadie nodded, and they left the restaurant without sparing Briley another glance.
Briley could only stamp her foot in frustration. âDamn that bitch! Always calling me out and exposing me to other people!â she cursed through gritted teeth.
Briley had heard rumors about Alexâs supposed affection for Sadie. It seemed that those rumors were indeed true. Otherwise, why would he be so considerate toward Sadie, yet dismissive of her?
Brileyâs chest heaved with indignation.
âIt would be best if you keep your distance from Briley,â Sadie warned Alex as they stepped out of the restaurant. She had a feeling that Brileyâs sudden appearance wasnât as simple as it seemed.
âAre you jealous?â Alex asked, the ghost of a smile dancing on his lips. He presumed that Sadie was upset because he had helped Briley.
âOf course not,â Sadie replied, casting him a cool glance.
âI helped her out of reflex,â Alex quickly explained. âI had no idea who she was. Donât worry, it wonât happen again. I promise to steer clear of her from now on.â He raised his right hand as though he was swearing an oath.
Sadie just nodded and said nothing more, completely ignoring Alexâs obvious joy.
âShall I drive you back to the office?â he offered.
âThat wonât be necessary. I have other things to take care of. Letâs part ways here.â Sadie didnât even wait for Alex to respond and got into the car parked by the road.
Alex watched as the sports car sped away, a trace of disappointment flickering in his eyes.
Moments later, Sadie was back at the company.
Samuel was upon her as soon as she entered her office. âMs. Hudson, Burgess Group has responded. Mr. Noel is willing to meet with you. The appointment is set for next Wednesday.â

Sadie nodded absentmindedly. âIn that case, please arrange the trip to Zupren.â
âAh,â Samuel exclaimed. His tone was cautious when he continued, âWell, as it happens, Mr. Noel is returning to the country next Tuesday.â
âHeâs coming back?â Sadie was slightly surprised by this news, but she didnât dwell on it. âThen make sure we give him a proper reception.â
âUnderstood,â Samuel replied before going about making the necessary preparations.
That afternoon, Sadie went down to the second floor. In order to better manage her work, she had integrated her studio into the Wall Group and turned the entire second floor into a massive design department. She had also promoted Nanette to supervisor.
Nanette greeted her at the elevator banks. âMs. Hudson, the initial draft has been sent over,â she reported with a sigh of relief. âMiss Travis is very satisfied. We can start with the final product.â
Sadie nodded her approval.
Nigelâs death and Noahâs coma had occurred back to back, which caused Zoeâs wedding to be delayed. Now, three years later, the wedding was finally back on the table. Sadie walked over to her workstation.
She blocked all external distractions and focused on the draft in front of her. As her fingers brushed the cold drawing board, her mind gradually calmed.
She had devoted the last three years to her work. It was the only way she could forget the painful memories and find a sense of purpose in life.
