Chapter 678
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 678:
Sadie felt her own nose sting, though her chest was suffused with warmth. She knew Ralph truly cared for her.
âYou must not worry, Mr. Castro. Iâm doing just fine. Iâll handle the companyâs matters.â
Ralph looked at her, then nodded in satisfaction.
As expected of Absolonâs granddaughterâof course, she wasnât an average person!
âGood, good. As long as I am still alive, no one can steal your position as chairwoman!â Ralphâs declaration rang out firmly around the room.
Sadie was moved.
âBut Iâm getting old,â Ralph continued, his tone softening. âI donât have much time left.â He paused to heave a long sigh. âIâve brought back someone from Colnoque with me, someone who can help you.â
Sadie blinked. Ralphâs smile had turned mysterious, leaving her bewildered and a little worried.
Ralph waved his hand and gestured to someone behind him.
âBlaine, come over here!â

A man emerged from an adjoining room.
Sadieâs eyes widened slightly when she saw who it wasâBlaine Castro, Ralphâs grandson.
He was young and handsome, just as one would expect. But the carefree and seemingly irreverent smile that played on his lips gave the impression that he was more frivolous than ideal.
Blaine grinned and nodded at her in greeting. âYo, Sadie! How you doing?â
Sadie struggled to keep herself from raising an eyebrow. She wasnât used to anyone speaking to her in such a flippant manner.
Ralph shot Blaine a disapproving glance. âYou rascal, mind your manners!â he scolded, though he didnât seem genuinely angry. âDonât take it to heart, Sadie. He meant no offense.â
Sadie smiled and shook her head. âItâs quite all right.â
Ralph hummed and nodded. âBlaine may be a bit loose with his words, but heâs reliable. Keep him by your side, Sadie. If thereâs anything you need, you can let him handle it.â
Sadie glanced back and forth between grandfather and grandson.
She knew the old man had only good intentions for her.
âThank you, Mr. Castro.â
Ralph waved his hand dismissively. âWeâre practically family. Whatâs there to thank me for? In any case, youâve been standing there for a while now. Iâm sure youâre tired. Come sit and rest for a bit.â
Sadie then sat beside him.
Ralph took her hand and asked about the goings-on at the company and in her personal life.
She kept her composure as she answered each of his questions. Ralph listened attentively, occasionally expressing his thoughts with a hum or a nod.
âSadie, why donât you stay for lunch today?â the old man suggested.
âKeep me company, and we can talk some more.â
Sadie checked the time. âSure. I appreciate the offer, Mr. Castro.â
âOh, please. Iâm just so glad to have you here,â Ralph said with a chuckle. âSharing a meal with you is always a delight.â
They had a lavish lunch that day, and their warm, easy conversation continued to flow as they ate.
Ralph never seemed to run out of topics to discuss, and Blaine would chime in here and there with playful banter that made the old man laugh.
