Chapter 682
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 682:
Her pretense made Suttonâs anger flare instantly.
âYou bitch!â he snapped, raising a hand in fury.
But Hailey was fasterâher slap rang sharply through the hallway.
He staggered back, stunned, one hand pressed to his cheek.
âYou hit me?â he asked in disbelief.
Hailey smirked, her voice dripping with disdain.
âWhy not? You need a reality check. Iâm now the heiress of the Burgess Group, far beyond what I used to be. And you? On the verge of being cast out by the Walls, under the thumb of a woman. A failure like you has no power over me anymore.â
Her words were cutting, each one laced with contempt.
âNext time, I suggest you show proper manners around me.â
Without sparing Sutton another glance, she strode away, leaving him behind.
Sadie headed back to Wall Manor.
Isabel was waiting for her in the living room, and as soon as she saw Sadie, she waved her over.

âCome here, Sadie.â Isabelâs voice was noticeably softer than years ago.
âIsabel,â Sadie greeted with a nod as she sat next to her mother-in-law. Isabel let out a sigh and took her hand.
âI think itâs time for us to arrange for Noahâs burial. Heâs been gone for some time now. We canât keep putting this off.â
Sadie looked down and kept silent, her mind drifting off.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldnât shake the image of Patrick from her mind.
Noticing her dazed state, Isabel assumed that she was still grieving.
âI know it hurts,â she said, patting Sadieâs hand. âBut we canât bring him back, and we need to move forward with our lives. I spoke with the priest. The tenth of this month is an appropriate day for the burial. Letâs lay Noah to rest in the Wall familyâs cemetery.â
That snapped Sadie back to her senses.
Noahâs burial?
The words cut like a knife through her heart.
She turned to Isabel, her expression heavy, and finally nodded.
âLetâs do that, then.â
Isabel let out another sigh, this time one of relief. There wasnât much else to say after that.
The next morning,
The atmosphere in the Wall Groupâs conference room was so tense it was suffocating. They were having a shareholdersâ meeting, and it was far from a pleasant one.
Coyle was barely hiding his smirk. He was pleased with himself, and he wanted everyone to know it.
He was convinced that Sadie would meet her downfall today. There was no way she could turn things around at this point.
He glanced over at the empty seat at the head of the table, and his smirk widened. Sure enough, Sadie didnât even show up.
She was scared, after all.
Feeling all smug and giddy, Coyle leaned back in his chair and basked in his triumph. He could already picture her begging for mercy, and he knew he was going to love every second of it.
Across the room, the other shareholders looked grim. Their brows were furrowed in concern as they brooded in silence.
