Chapter 713
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 713:
This rascal had dared to call him names right to his face! It was outrageous! Absolutely unacceptable! Coyle pointed a trembling finger at Blaine.
âWatch your mouth, kid! Iâm now the chairman of Wall Group. How dare you insult me like this?â
Blaine poked his pinky finger into his ear and let out an impatient huff. âThe chairman? I donât give a damn. Who do you think you are, barging into our home and putting on airs in front of us? Get out before you taint this place any further!â
Blaine gestured at the guards, who immediately stepped forward and seized Coyle and his assistant. They were unceremoniously tossed out the door, along with their gifts.
Ralph watched it all unfold, his expression unchanged, making no move to intervene.
Once Coyle and his assistant left, Ralph turned to Blaine, his voice calm but weighted. âNow, tell meâwhatâs going on?â
He knew Blaine well. The boy could act like a lazy vagabond half the time, but when it came to serious matters, Blaine didnât play around. Blaine stepped forward, his usual smirk replaced by a rare seriousness. He laid everything outâwhat happened at Wall Manor; Sadieâs brutal beating, the photographs used to smear her name.
Ralph listened in silence. But when Blaine mentioned the violence Sadie had endured, Ralphâs expression darkened. His brows drew together, and he let out a long, heavy sigh. âBeaten that severely⦠Those people⦠the Wall family is colder than I thought.â

Still, he knewâthis was the fire Sadie had to walk through. Coyleâs hunger for power was insatiable. And Sadie? She was the greatest obstacle in his way. What troubled Ralph wasnât the attack itselfâit was the depravity of the method. He hadnât expected Coyle to go that far.
Blaine, frowning, leaned in. âGrandpa, what now? Are we just going to stand by? Shouldnât we help Sadie?â
Ralph didnât answer right away. âWe shouldnât interfere too deeply in the Wall familyâs affairs. Sadie must learn to stand on her own,â Ralph said firmly, his voice measured. He paused, his eyes meeting Blaineâs with quiet gravity. âBut ensure her safety. Stay in the shadows if you mustâbut help her when she needs it.â
Blaine gave a slight nod, already understanding the unspoken meaning behind the words. This wasnât abandonmentâit was calculated support.
Early the next morning, the atmosphere inside the Wall Groupâs boardroom was thick with anticipation. Executives whispered in corners. Then, Coyle entered and took the head seat.
âLadies and gentlemen, todayâs meeting is convened to address two critical matters,â he said smoothly, hands folded atop the polished table. âFirst, there have been some⦠unsavory rumors regarding my niece-in-law, Sadie. Let me clarifyâSadie is currently unwell and in need of rest. After an internal consensus, it has been unanimously agreed that she will be relieved of her duties as the chairwoman of the Wall Group.â
The room erupted in stunned murmurs. Many had caught whispers of the drama the day before, but the news still shocked everyone. After all, everyone knew what Sadie had accomplished. Since she took the helm of the Wall Group, her leadership had revitalized the company. To see her ousted so abruptly left a bitter taste in everyoneâs mouths.
But Coyle, drunk on power, was unmoved. He raised a hand, silencing the murmurs. âNow, the second matter. Following a unanimous decision, I will be assuming the position of acting chairman effective immediately. Iâll be overseeing all daily operations until further notice.â Finally, the title heâd coveted for so long was his. And he didnât waste a second. He rattled off a string of new appointmentsâplacing his loyalists into every key department. One by one, he buried Sadieâs legacy beneath layers of control.
