Chapter 788
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 788:
Sadie came to a stop. Was Briley really reaching this far? Her manipulations were laughably obvious.
Sadie let out a cold chuckle, pushed open her office door, and walked in.
âNoted.â
She hadnât even settled into her chair when the door burst open. Marshall Chadwick, head of PR, stormed in, drenched in sweat and visibly rattled.
âMs. Hudson! Weâve got a serious problem!â
Sadie raised her eyes, frowning faintly. âWhat is it now?â
Still catching his breath, Marshall fumbled with his tablet and then played a video. âYou have to watch thisâBriley just held a press briefing.â
Onscreen, Briley, who had quietly slipped out of the hospital, appeared in a hospital gown, her complexion pale and her frame gauntâan image of fragile sorrow.
âDear media friends, thank you for your concern. I deeply regret the altercation caused by my team. The fault lies with meâI failed to manage them properly.â With that, she gave a long, solemn bow.
Then, seamlessly, she addressed the swirling rumors about Sadieâs absence. âAs for those saying my cousin-in-law, Sadie, never came to visitâ¦â Briley sniffled. Perfectly timed, a lone tear traced down her cheek.
âPlease donât judge her. She leads a massive enterpriseâitâs natural sheâs pressed for time. Besides, my brother and I have hurt her deeply before. Itâs only fair that she keeps her distance. Sadie and others from the Wall family have shown me nothing but kindness over the years. I truly mean it.â As she spoke, she dabbed at her eyes repeatedly.
That expressionâenduring pain with dignityâwould tug at anyoneâs heartstrings. Anyone watching would think she had suffered unimaginable injustice, yet was still defending Sadie.
Predictably, the online comments were merciless.
âWow! Sadie is made of stone! Briley saved her and gets nothing in return?â
âShe runs Wall Group? What a cold, heartless exec.â
âUngrateful! Heartless!â
âShameful! Briley defends her despite being treated like this?â
âItâs always the kind ones who suffer the most.â
âFamily exclusion at its peak!â
The wave of insults was relentless.
Marshall, visibly sweating, looked on edge. âThis is a PR disaster, maâam! Should we issue a statement to clear things up right away?â
Sadie watched the clip without any visible reaction. As she returned the tablet, her face was calmâbordering on amused.
