The night lay heavy over Myrtlewood Estate, cloaking the grounds in a velvet hush.

Unseen in the shadows just beyond the gates, a pair of sharp eyes tracked Sadie’s taillights as they disappeared into the distance.

Inside a nondescript black sedan, Briley lowered her binoculars, her knuckles pale from the grip.
