Chapter 837
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 837:
Once she was gone, Daren let loose.
He strode into the room and slapped Ophelia hard across the face.
Smack!
She clutched her stinging cheek, her eyes filled with tears as she stared at her brother in shock.
âHow could you hit me?â Ophelia demanded, sounding aggrieved. âI love Nathan, I truly do! I donât want to marry that wheelchair-bound Jarrett!â
Jarrett had been in an accident a few years ago, and now he was bound to a wheelchair. It was a well-known fact among high-society circles in Beversea.
Darenâs anger flared even more.
âShut up! Your marriage was decided a long time ago. This alliance is crucial for the future of both the Johnson and the Higgins families. There is no room for any changes!â
He didnât hold back. He knew his sister had grown up spoiled, but it seemed all that pampering had made her completely lose common sense.
Daren then turned his glare to Nathan, who was leisurely putting his clothes back on, as if nothing monumental had just happened.
Needless to say, his nonchalance made Daren all the more furious.
âMr. Higgins!â he barked through gritted teeth. âDonât you think you owe our family an explanation?â
Nathan fastened the last button of his shirt with a chuckle.
âThatâs a rather odd question, Mr. Johnson. Ophelia and I are both adults. What else is there to explain?â
Darenâs expression darkened, and his hands clenched into fists at his sides. But he held back this time.
Causing a commotion now would be detrimental to everyone involved.
Daren looked at his sister again, who had the audacity to pout and sulk.

âGet dressed and go home right this instant. Letâs just forget this ever happened.â
Then he stormed out of the room. If he stayed there a minute longer, he might really explode.
Ophelia huffed and crossed her arms over her chest.
But when she saw that Nathan was about to leave, she panicked.
âNathan, where are you going?â
He paused and looked back at her with a teasing smile.
âShowâs over, Ophelia. You should listen to your brother and hurry back home. Jarrettâs waiting for you. Donât worry, I wonât tell him about today.â
Ophelia was stunned.
