Chapter 866
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 866:
Nathan stood frozen, staring at the door, stunned.
âProperly treatedâ? What did that mean?
He turned slowlyâand found Jack advancing toward him, cracking his knuckles as he came. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes told another story. Cold. Calculating. Focused.
Nathan swallowed hard and offered a shaky grin.
âHey, buddy, can we maybe talk this out? Weâre civilized men, right? Letâs use our wordsâno need for fists.â
Jack didnât answer.
There was no escaping the beating today. Nathanâs stomach sank. He glanced at the floor, then back at Jack.
âOkay, okay. Justâmaybe not the face? I still need it to make a living.â
At that exact moment, the door to the adjacent room creaked open.
Sadie froze when she saw Noah standing just outside. Her first instinct was to shut the door and retreat.
What was he doing here?
Noahâs eyes darkened. He moved without hesitation. Before she could react, he gripped the handle and pushed the door open, stepping inside.
Caught off guard, Sadie took a step back, her expression hardening.
âMr. Noel, donât you think itâs rude to barge into someoneâs room like this?â she said coldly. âNeither of us is single now. If anyone finds out weâre alone in here, it wouldnât look right. Please leave.â
Every word was deliberate, each one carefully drawing a line between them.

Shouldnât he be with Hailey? Why was he here?
Her cold dismissal pushed Noah over the edge. The frustration heâd been suppressing broke free.
Without a word, he stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.
He leaned down, his breath brushing against her ear as he spoke, voice uncharacteristically soft.
âSadie, I know you only got engaged to Nathan to deal with Jarrett. But you donât have to go this far. Nathanâs not worth it.â
He could give her everythingâso why did she keep pushing him away?
Sadie froze for a beat, then shoved him back with force. She moved quickly, putting distance between them.
How dare he?
âMy affairs are none of your business, Mr. Noel.â
She turned to the intercom and pressed the button.
âPlease send security to my room. Thereâs an intruder.â
