Chapter 1047

Keegan immediately dialed Vermont’s number as soon as Aldor left his office.

He said straightforwardly, “I need a favor.”

Vermont was lying on the couch and eating fruits. Keegan could vaguely hear the sound of running water coming from the other side of the phone because Felicity was busy cooking for him in the kitchen to speed up his recovery progress.

His waist felt a little sore after lying down for so long. He was living his best life lately.

After hearing what Keegan said, he lazily replied, “What is it?”

Keegan briefly told Vermont about his purpose of calling, and Vermont refused without even hesitating.

“You can go ahead and do these unethical things yourself.”

However, Keegan was not angry as he calmly said, “I guess Miss Thompson hasn’t read your medical record yet, huh? As your girlfriend, I think she should have the right to know what really happened to you.”

Vermont kept quiet.

Then, he gritted his teeth and said, “You’re such an asshole. Do you remember how much I helped you to get Stella back? n Keegan sneered. “I would’ve forgotten about it if you didn’t bring it up. Stella and I would be married again by now if it weren’t for you stirring things up between us!”

Vermont was left speechless.

He coughed and stopped acting arrogant. Then, he tried to negotiate with Keegan in a friendly tone. “I was just playing with you. I’m your brother. Of course I’ll get that done for you. But please keep your mouth shut and don’t mess with my relationship.”

Keegan scoffed. “Let me remind you, relationships built on lies are not going to last. Don’t play with fire or you’ll end up getting burned.”

“How could you have the audacity to say that?” Vermont could not help but retort. “Didn’t you lie to Stella by making her think that she wanted to sleep with you? Did you lose your memory? Talk about the kettle calling the pot black! If you can win someone over, it doesn’t matter what method you use as long as you’re going to treat her well, isn’t it?”

Keegan kept quiet.

Felicity came out of the kitchen while holding a pot as Vermont was speaking.

Vermont said in a low voice, “I have to go now. Bye.”

Then, he quickly put away his energetic demeanor and continued to lie on the sofa weakly.

Felicity placed the pot on the table and quickly rubbed her reddened hands on her ears.

She looked down and asked Vermont, “How are you feeling?

Does it still hurt?”

Vermont nodded weakly and said, “I’ve been lying down for too long and my back feels so stiff.”

He sniffed as he spoke. “What did you make?”

“Stewed pork ribs with carrots.” Felicity paused before she continued, “Just stay here and rest if it still hurts.”

Vermont thought to himself, ‘There’ll only be leftovers for me to eat if I sleep now. It’s not going to be as delicious if I don’t eat it now.’

So, he said, “It’s okay. It took you so much effort to cook this. How could I not eat it right away?”

After that, Felicity helped him stand up. Then, he placed a cushion on the couch and let him sit on it.

To make his acting look more realistic, Vermont kept his back straight after sitting down as if he could not bend it at all.

Felicity went to take a posture corrector belt and said in a low voice, “I’ll help you put this on. It’ll make you feel a little better.”

Vermont nodded.

Felicity held the belt, wrapped it around his waist, and fastened it.

She was standing very close to Vermont. It was so close that Vermont could see the mole below her neck by just lowering his head.

Felicity had somewhat light-colored hair, and even the hair on her body was translucent. When she bent her neck down, Vermont could see her cervical vertebra extending all the way into her T-shirt.

Vermont pursed his lips and shamefully discovered that compared to a completely naked woman, a casually exposed patch of skin like this turned him on even more.
