Chapter 1126
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
The high school student that Stella had pushed away was shocked when she saw the broken shards of glass on the ground. âIt wouldâve been me if it werenât for her,â she thought.
âStella!â Marshallâs voice sounded. His face was sullen as he pushed through the sea of people, trying to get to Stella. He hastily used a handkerchief to cover her wounded head. Seeing that the cloth was soaked in blood, Marshall stared at the crowd with a cold face and said, âWho did this?â
Those shouting at Stella earlier immediately shut their mouths and looked at each other. No one admitted to the assault. Then, someone said, âShe deserved it for pushing Bella and refusing to apologize.â
Marshallâs cold gaze pierced through them as he said, âDid any of you see her push Bella down the stairs? Or did the police say that she did it?â
The person choked on their own words and retorted, âWhy didnât she come forward and clear things up if she didnât do it? Why did she go into hiding? Itâs not fair. She should apologize for her wrongdoing.â
âAll of you believed what you saw on the internet without solid evidence and convicted her. None of you held back when you criticized and bullied her, yet now youâre asking why she didnât just come out and clarify herself? Would you even believe her if she said she didnât do it?â Marshall said coldly.
âI bet youâd think that she was lying. Youâd attack her no matter what she says and never be satisfied with her, no matter what she does or doesnât do. You vent your anger and frustrations in the name of your so-called justice. But all youâre doing is hurting someone on behalf of your idol.â
Marshallâs words made the public question themselves.
After all, most of them were actually trying to seek justice for Bella and not hurt Stella. However, a few people did not fall for Marshallâs approach. â Who are you to say something like that?â one of them asked.
Marshall shot the person a cold glance and said, âIâm Marshall Moore, a friend of Stellaâs and her lawyer. I am responsible for protecting her in terms of her reputation and personal safety. The police are investigating the case, and the court will decide if she committed the crime. None of you have the right to convict her.â
After saying that, Marshall paused and glanced around. âI think everyone here is aware of how important an actorâs appearance is in the film industry. I urge whoever threw that glass to come forward now. Donât make me contact the authorities and have them look up the CCTV.â
Stella was in excruciating pain at that moment and was feeling a little dizzy. She pulled Marshall down and whispered, âLetâs forget it.â
âNo. Iâm not letting this one slide. I feel helpless for not being able to protect you. Put some pressure on the wound and donât say another word. Iâll take you to the hospital after Iâm done here,â Marshall held her hand and said softly.
Before Stella could say anything, Marshall looked toward the crowd sternly. âNo one wants to come out and admit it? Fine. Weâll check the surveillance. Iâm telling you; you can be convicted for at least three to ten years for intentional harm. Refusing to plead guilty will only add to your sentence.â
Someone in the crowd started to panic after hearing the lawyerâs words and started to fess up, âIt was me.â
Everyone turned around and made way for the person, only to see an eleven or twelve-year-old girl sobbing. A longhaired woman in her early twenties stood next to her and apologized on the girlâs behalf. âMy sister is still young and believes everything she sees on the internet. Iâm really sorry. Itâs my fault for not stopping her earlier.â
When the woman said that, she poked the little girl in the arm and continued with a straight face, âWhat are you doing? Apologize, quick!â
Stella was stunned. She did not say anything. The little girl sobbed even harder as she uttered the words, âl-lâm sorryâ¦â
Marshallâs demeanor changed at that moment. âYouâre the one who threw the glass?â He walked up to the little girl and questioned in a warm voice.
The little girl fearfully nodded.
âDo you know her?â Marshall pointed at Stella and asked.
