Stella glanced at the man beside her, who was clearly thinking about having sex. She said, “Behave, Keegan. You’re giving me the ick.”

“But Vermont always talks like that,” the man grunted.

“That’s why you’d play the macho boss if you were in a movie, while he’d play the manager,” Stella joked. “But you’ll be neither if you don’t stop with the gross talk.”

While they were chatting, Stella’s phone rang. It was Albert. She gave Keegan a silent gesture and answered the call.

“Stella, are you okay?” asked Albert.

Stella and Keegan looked at each other. “I’m fine. Is something the matter, Mr. Jewell?”

Albert sounded concerned. “Why didn’t you tell me you faced such a major situation?”

“Well, you didn’t ask,” Stella replied indifferently.

“I just saw the news yesterday. I wanted to call, but I feared you wouldn’t pick up. I didn’t like it when you said you wanted to pursue acting. I knew the people in the show business were all a bunch of bums. Your mom even argued with me when I told her that. But now look. You’re suffering.” Stella could not stand Albert. She almost threw up at the tone of his voice.

Albert was the typical oppressive and self-centered parent. If his child wanted to learn something, he’d be against it. If they did not listen to him and decided to chase after their dreams, he would keep finding ways to tear them down.

They would also not get a single word of praise from him, even if they were the best of the best. In response to their success, Albert might even say, “What’s the point of learning all that?” If his children encountered setbacks in pursuing their desires, he would immediately tell them, “I told you so. You should have listened to me.”

Stella did not care about all the things Albert had said or done to her in the past, but she could not believe he was shameless enough to judge her choices. “Did you call just to mock me, Mr. Jewell?”

She asked coldly.

“I am concerned about you, Stella. As soon as I found out about this matter, I immediately pull some connections and have them start an investigation. Don’t worry. The truth will come out, and your name will be cleared.”

‘He sure knows how to flatter himself. He never once called to ask how I was doing when the issue was people are starting to stand on my side, he wants to help me and take credit for being a good person?’

“Are you with Keegan right now?” Albert asked as he began leading up to his call’s main point.

“No. We haven’t had much contact since the incident. He’s probably afraid of getting dragged down with me,” Stella said with a straight face as she laid her head on Keegan’s lap.

“That’s not possible. I think Keegan’s afraid that the paparazzi will capture you two together and cause you more trouble. I saw him share the thank you post on Facebook.”

Hearing that, Stella paused and stared at Keegan.

The man then looked away sheepishly. ‘It’s not like I said something ambiguous to mislead the public like Marshall did. I literally just shared the post,’ he thought.
