Chapter 1183
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Vermont did not quite believe Stellaâs denial of knowing Spencer. He could tell that something was off judging by her reaction. It seemed like there was more to them than just classmates.
He was about to say something when Stella interrupted him, âLetâs go grab some food, Felicity.â
âOkay. Sure,â Felicity replied.
Once the two women left the table, Vermont leaned into Keeganâs ear and whispered, âThereâs something fishy going on with your partner. Sheâs the type who canât take her eyes off a handsome guy, but she barely looks at Spencer. She would even avert her gaze everytime their eyes met. Since when she has ever been shy around guys?â
Vermontâs words caused Keegan to suspect that something was going on. He had also noticed Stellaâs unusual behavior, but he still chose to defend her for now. âIs she acting shy? I hadnât noticed. It seems to me that she doesnât find him attractive.â
Vermont did not say a word. âI didnât know Keegan could be so protective over Stella,â he thought. âStill, I think thereâs more to the story than what she is letting on.â
At the food section of the wedding, Stella grabbed an egg tart for Felicity with a pair of tongs.
Felicity picked up the pastry and ate it as she asked, âStella, isnât Spencer your ex-boyfriend whom you dated for two weeks before you guys broke up?â
Stella did not answer. Felicity confirmed her suspicions after seeing her reaction. âAh hah! I knew it!
Thereâs no way you would forget him since weâve only graduated not too long ago, especially since heâs so good- looking.â
Stella sighed. âPlease donât say anything about this in front of Keegan, or heâll get upset.â
âHe mightâve been fine with it if you had just admitted it earlier. Why did you even pretend like you didnât know Spencer? Iâd be upset too if I were Keegan.â Felicity paused a while before saying, âWait a minute. They look so similar; you clearly have a type. Youâre not using Keegan as Spencerâs substitute, are you?*
Stellaâs eyelids twitched when she heard that. âWhat are you talking about? Theyâre nothing alike.
Youâve been watching too many dramas.â
Felicity did not care much about the resemblance between the two men. Instead, she was more curious about how Stella managed to date the campus heartthrob. âCome on, tell me. How did you win him over?â
âWhy canât it be the other way around? Maybe he was the one who hit on me first,â said Stella.
Felicity scoffed and said, âI would believe you if you looked the way you do now back in high school.
Iâve seen the pictures, you know? You literally weighed at least 130 pounds back then. I donât think an attractive teenage boy wouldâve wanted to hit on you.â
Stellaâs face darkened upon hearing that. âExcuse you? I didnât weigh 130 pounds. I was 120 pounds at most. Plus, Iâm tall. Itâs normal for me to weigh a little more than the other girls in school.â
âOkay, fine. So who was the initiator of the relationship?â
Stella hesitated for a moment and finally said, âI randomly confessed to him one day, and he accepted it.â
âIt was surprisingly easy to win him over,â she thought.
âI donât think that confession was random.â A cold voice suddenly came from behind her.
Stellaâs hands trembled, and she almost dropped her plate. Thankfully, Spencer was there to catch it.
âWhy did you pretend not to know me earlier? â he asked.
Felicityâs mouth dropped open wide. âOh, shit. Sheâs been caught red- handed!â She continued to eat her egg tart, pretending nothing had happened while eavesdropping on their conversation.
Stella fidgeted around and thought, âEverythingâs going to be fine as long as I remain calm.â
âWell, you have a different status now, and weâre no longer in the same circle. I just donât want people to get the wrong idea,â she said.
Spencer pondered upon her answer and asked, âWho would get the wrong idea, exactly? Keegan? I thought you guys were divorced.â
