Vermont scoffed. “That sounds more like your bestie, isn’t it?”

Felicity kicked his calf. “Stella loves money, but she’d never betray her friends for it. Unlike you, how many times have you betrayed Keegan?’

Vermont tried to defend himself. “He wants to learn from the master. Isn’t it reasonable for him to pay some tuition fee?”

“What’s there to learn from a person full of scheming ideas like you?”

Vermont smirked. “Any ideas are good as long as they work.” He then put a sliced steak on Felicity’s plate before adding, “Why are you here instead of staying with your bestie to protect her? Do you miss me this much?”

Felicity paused as she was caught off guard.

Vermont thought he was right about it as he immediately raised his eyebrows and said in a deep voice, “It seems being apart from me even for a while is driving you crazy, huh?”

Felicity rolled her eyes at him. ‘Dream on!’ She hesitated for a moment before continuing, “I’m afraid that Stella will beat me up.”

“Why would she do that?’

Vermont was puzzled and only found out what happened after asking Felicity about it.

“You know me. I can never control my mouth. I’m sure that Keegan is confronting Stella about it now.

After that, Stella will come to confront me about it.”

Felicity smacked her mouth as she spoke.

Vermont immediately grabbed her hand. ’It’s better to say it now if Keegan will know about it sooner or later. If he were to find out about it on his own, something worse would happen, and all of us who know the trouble will also be in trouble.”

Felicity still felt very guilty but also somewhat comforted. “Really?” she asked softly.

Vermont wrapped his arm around her shoulders and replied with a smile,” There’s nothing to be afraid of. I’ll always back you up no matter what.’

Felicity finally felt a little at ease. She turned to Vermont as she felt a strange sensation building up inside her. “Vermont.” She called him softly.

Vermont was tickled by her voice, but he pretended to be calm. He lowered his gaze and asked, “What is it? Do you think I’m very hot?”

Felicity chuckled. “How about you become my super-close buddy? What do you think?”

Vermont was dumbfounded. It seemed like he was still in her friendzone despite all his efforts to look like boyfriend material.

He figured there was probably something wrong with his way of pursuing Felicity, which was why she did not have any romantic feelings toward him. Felicity nudged him with her elbow. “Hey, I’m asking you a question.”

Vermont snapped out of his thoughts and glanced at her. Suddenly, he reached out to pinch her chin and said with a smirk, “Miss Bandit, do you know what you’re talking about?’

Felicity paused and was confused.

Vermont leaned closer to her ear and whispered, “For straight guys like me, super-close buddy means… fuck buddy.”

Felicity widened her gaze in shock as her ears turned red. She immediately shoved Vermont away.

Vermont’s smirk turned even more mischievous. “This is why you don’t want to say things like that to a guy. He might interpret it in a completely different way.”
