Chapter 1199

Once Albert had left, Xenia no longer acted as submissive as she did before. She coldly looked up and said, ’Is that so? Then, why did you have someone invite me here? What are you afraid of?”

Suddenly, Hylda’s face darkened. “You’re still young. Why are you engaging in such disgraceful affairs?”

“Didn’t you do the same when you were younger, Mrs. Jewell? No matter how hard I try, I can never reach Mr. Jewell’s social status. So, why would I stop when there’s a shortcut for me to get to the top?”

Xenia smirked.

Hylda was livid upon hearing that. “Do you think Albert will marry you? Dream on! He just wants the child that’s growing inside you. He wouldn’t even spare a glance at you once the child is born.”

Xenia lowered her gaze and smiled. When Hylda saw that expression, she felt a mixture of fear and disgust. It reminded her too much of Rainee, which evoked memories of her dark past and unspeakable actions.

“Looks like the child is my biggest bargaining chip,’ Xenia glanced at Hylda and said. “With this child, I’ll always have a place in the Jewell family’s future, even if Mr. Jewell doesn’t marry me. He might not care about me, but he cares about the child. Especially since it’s a boy who could inherit his company. I would like to thank you for setting up a great example. I mean, didn’t you get to be Mrs. Jewell because you’re going to give birth to a baby boy?” she paused and gently touched her belly. “I guess I have to thank my ovaries too.”

Hylda was trembling with anger. She suppressed her rage and coldly said,” All you want is money, right? I bet we can come up with a deal that would benefit the both of us.”

Xenia paused and responded, “Huh?”

“Meet me at the gazebo,” Hylda said coldly. She then turned and left without waiting for Xenia’s response.

Xenia frowned and followed her.

Vermont quickly rushed over to report the situation to Stella. “Hylda just asked your dad’s mistress to meet her at the gazebo to discuss something, a Stella was taken aback. “What were they talking about?” Albert asked.

“I couldn’t hear them clearly from a distance, but it seemed like she was going to pay her to back off.”

Stella remembered that Olivia had once told her that Hylda was repeatedly inspecting the gazebo.

Then, she suddenly realized what she was up to. Within a few minutes, there was a scream coming from the gazebo.

“Oh no! The bride fell!” someone yelled.

Albert’s face changed drastically, and he rushed through the crowd. Stella and the others followed closely behind.

Both Hylda and Xenia were lying on the ground outside of the gazebo. Hylda was clutching her belly with a pale face, while Xenia’s face was covered in blood from hitting her head on the steps.

At that moment, Albert looked as pale as a ghost. ‘My son! My son!!!’

He was about to check on Xenia when he heard Hylda cry out, “Albert, Ri my belly hurts…”

Upon hearing that, Albert hesitated. So, he turned and went to Hylda. He crouched down to support her, as he yelled for someone to call for an ambulance. “Are you okay? How did you fall from up there?”

Stella was about to approach Xenia when Albert pulled her back. All of a sudden, a figure emerged from the crowd and went to check on Xenia.

Stella looked closely at the person and was surprised to find that it was Lena. She looked suspiciously at Keegan, but he was expressionless as though he had expected this.

While Lena was checking on Xenia, Carter appeared and asked, “How is she, honey?”

“She should be fine,” Lena said. She then reached out and grabbed the first aid kit that Carter handed to her. After that, she took out some tools and began to clean Xenia’s wounds.

Although Albert was holding Hylda in his arms, his eyes were fixed on his mistress. He heard Lena say that Xenia was fine, but he still felt uneasy.” Take a closer look and see if she suffered any internal injuries,” he said.
