Chapter 1207
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
âThe child is fine for now. But, they found some drugs in Ms. Garciaâs system, and thereâs still a risk of miscarriage. The doctor said theyâll do their best to ensure that she and the baby are safe,â Keegan withdrew his gaze and said in disdain.
Albert was taken aback. âDrugs? What kind of drugs?â
Stella casually glanced at Hylda. As expected, her face turned paler upon hearing about the medicine.
Keegan did not hold back. âAbortion pills,â he said.
âAbortion pills?!ââ Albertâs heart trembled. âWasnât it the fall that caused her to bleed?â
âIâm not too sure about the details. Maybe you should ask the doctor,â Keegan replied. He knew that some things were better left unsaid to avoid suspicion.
Not long after, Xeniaâs attending doctor arrived and explained her condition to Albert. The more Albert listened to what the doctor said, the darker his expression became. âWeâve asked Ms. Garcia about the pills, and she insisted that she didnât take any. However, she mentioned that she had a glass of juice at the wedding that tasted strange. She thought it was just that it had gone bad, so she didnât drink much of it. As a result, it did not cause any serious complications.â
After a brief pause, the doctor added, âMr. Jewell, if the drugs were administered during the wedding, I suggest Mrs. Jewell should get a blood test as well. Itâs possible that her miscarriage was caused by the pills.â
Hylda realized that Xenia wanted to pin the blame on her, and she quickly retorted, âThere are two types of abortion pills, Mifepristone and Misoprostol. The former terminates pregnancy from within, while the latter induces contractions to expel the embryo from the body. Thereâs no way someone couldâve drugged her with those on the same day she nearly had a miscarriage.â
The doctor was taken aback and said, âI never specified the type of drugs found in Ms. Garciaâs system, Mrs. Jewell. Why are you so certain that itâs one of the two you mentioned?â
Hylda, who was caught off guard, replied, âArenât those two the most common ones in the market?â
âMrs. Jewell, I think the most important thing now is to find out whether you have been drugged. Donât you care about finding out what happened to your child?â said Olivia.
Hyldaâs abnormal reaction raised strong suspicions in Albertâs mind. Her fear of checking the surveillance footage, her aversion to getting a blood test, and her fall from the gazebo all pointed to her wanting to get rid of the child.
âIsnât having a child later in life supposed to be a joyous occasion? Why does she seem so indifferent?
Itâs not like she was pregnant with someone elseâs child,â Felicity muttered.
This statement struck a chord in Albertâs mind. âHylda had no reason to reject the child, especially after learning that Xenia was also pregnant.
Sheâs a smart woman. She mustâve known that having another child meant that she would get a larger share of the familyâs wealth. Yet, she still didnât want the child. The only possible reason for that is the child was not mine.â
Hyldaâs heart sank upon hearing that. Sophia pointed at Felicity and yelled,â What kind of nonsense are you on about, you moron?!â
Felicityâs eyelids twitched as she yelled back, âYou know Iâm right, bitch!â
She was about to roll up her sleeves and teach Sophia a lesson, but Vermont hugged her from behind and pulled her away. âLetâs stay focused on the situation and not cause any trouble,â he said.
Felicity kicked her feet in protest and complained, âThat bitch literally called me a moron when she looks dumb as hell.â
She pounded Vermontâs shoulder as she continued, âCan you be more like Keegan? He couldnât wait to tear Sophia apart when she disrespected Stella. Yet, here you are, pulling me away while sheâs calling me names. Youâre my boyfriend. Shouldnât you be on my side?â
Vermont put his arm around her shoulder and said, âDonât worry. Iâll avenge you.â
Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Albert had already figured out everything.
He stared at Hylda with a tense face and asked, âWhose baby was that?â
