Chapter 1245
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Chandlerâs expression turned cold upon hearing Keeganâs request. Cordelia glanced sharply at Jackson, who wore a gloomy expression and said, âYou better start taking this job seriously, boy. Your cousin is giving you a golden opportunity here. Iâll have no choice but to send you to the western branch if you donât keep your act up.â
âYes, Grandma,â Jackson replied with a tense look.
Then, Cordelia put down her cup and said, âKeegan, you should consider giving Aurora a job as well. It doesnât have to be a high position, just one where she can learn something.â
Keegan glanced at Aurora, who stiffened her back and pursed her lips. She avoided making eye contact with him because if she did, her mind would be flooded with memories of how he dragged her out of Chandlerâs house and handed her over to the police. All the care and affection she had received in the past became a nightmare. Her days in the detention center haunted her, filling her with fear and resentment.
Keegan fell silent for a moment before saying, âShe can enter the secretary department. Iâll have Aldor mentor her.â
Aldor was baffled by the suggestion. He looked at his boss somewhat d isg runt led ly and thought, âCouldnât they just hire a nanny to look after that girl?â
Cordelia seemed satisfied with the arrangement. Aldor was Keeganâs protdg£ and would undoubtedly become a key figure in the companyâs leadership. His capabilities and approach to handling matters were excellent. By assigning Aurora to Aldor, Keegan was showing that he was taking her under his wings.
âDo you accept your brotherâs arrangement, Aurora? Or do you have anything to say?â Cordelia inquired.
Aurora kept her head down and replied, âI accept.â
Cordelia nodded and said, âThatâs settled then. Aldor, take Aurora to complete the onboarding process so that she can start working tomorrow.â
Aldor reluctantly accepted the task and said, âFollow me, Ms. Kane.â
Aurora hesitated and followed Aldor out.
Cordelia then turned her attention to Chandler and Jackson. She rubbed her forehead and waved her hand dismissively, saying, âYou two should also leave. I canât believe you asked me to come down here for such a trivial matter. Youâre giving me a headache.â
âI wasnât the one who asked you to come down here,â thought Chandler. However, knowing Cordeliaâs bias towards Keegan, he took his son and left with a sullen face. Baldwin also left the room shortly after.
Once everyone was gone, Cordelia glared at Keegan and expressed her frustration. âIt was reckless of you to cause a scene like that. Arenât you afraid of getting beaten up by those shareholders?â
Keegan loosened his tie and said, âIâd get to fire them from their positions if they do, so no.â
âYouâre so thick-skinned,â Cordelia grunted. She remembered him picking up a phone call and paused before asking, âWas it Stella who called earlier? n âYes,â Keegan replied.
This piqued Cordeliaâs curiosity. âIs she still living with you?â she asked.
âNo. She moved back to her place.â
Cordelia frowned. âYouâre useless!â
Her words left Keegan speechless. âStella is an actress now and has paparazzi following her everywhere. It wouldnât be suitable for her to stay at my place.â He explained.
Cordelia was annoyed when she heard that. âCanât you stay at her place? How come youâre so clever when it comes to messing with your Uncle Chandler but not when it comes to pursuing a girl?â
âBut Iâm already dating her, Grandma,â Keegan felt the need to clarify.
Cordelia had her doubts. âIf what you say is true, why havenât you proposed? I want a great-grandchild, Keegan. Iâm not getting any younger. And why the hell would you let her go back to her place?â
Keegan did not know how to respond. He knew he could not tell his grandmother about his vasectomy, so he said, âStella has just found her footing in her career. I donât want to rush her.â
âAre you sure itâs not because she doesnât want to remarry you?â Cordelia asked.
Keegan remained silent.
âYou only started treating her better after the divorce. Maybe sheâs afraid you would revert to your old ways if you two get married again. I donât blame her for wanting to test the waters,â she continued.
