Chapter 1246
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Keegan was getting frustrated with Cordeliaâs nonsense. âShe acts more like Stellaâs grandmother than mine,â he thought.
âThings are different now, Grandma. Stella has just reconciled with her family. Us getting remarried is a big deal. Not only do I have to get her to agree to the proposal, but I would also need the approval from her elders,â Keegan explained.
Puzzled with the information given, Cordelia asked, âWhat do you mean she reconciled with her family?â
Keegan then told her about Stellaâs relationship with the Sauns and Halls.
Cordelia took a long time to take everything in before sighing. âI knew Stella looked familiar from the first time I saw her. I couldnât help but want to love and take care of her. I canât believe sheâs Freesiaâs child. Fate surely works in mysterious ways,â she said.
There was another brief silence after that. âIt seems like the chances of you remarrying Stella arenât looking too good. I donât think her family would approve of you, especially since youâre her ex-
husband,â Cordelia continued.
âMaybe you should invite Mr. and Mrs. Hall Sr. out for some dinner and put in a good word for me. You do want to see me married before I turn 35, right?â Keegan suggested.
Cordelia sneered, âThatâs your problem. Donât tell me Stella canât live without you when youâre the one who needs her. I knew you couldnât bear to lose her the moment you picked her in the beginning!
Everything you said about not wanting to waste your time finding a partner was a lie.
Admit it; you loved her the second you laid your eyes on her!â
His grandmotherâs confrontation took Keegan aback. âI really didnât like her that much at first,â he tried to defend himself. Cordelia laughed upon hearing that.
âIâm telling you the truth,â said Keegan.
âWould you have researched the right way to have intercourse if you didnât like her that much? You were so afraid of hurting her that you took so long to even do it,â Cordelia glanced at him and said.
The corner of Keeganâs mouth twitched as he warned his grandmother not to start any rumors.
âI have eyes and ears everywhere, Keegan. There was no way for your actions to go unnoticed.â
Keegan did not say a word.
âYouâre just as stubborn as your father! At least youâve come to your senses. If your father had half of your relationship knowledge, he wouldâve married your Aunt Freesia long ago. Your Uncle Wenham wouldnât even stand a chance,â Cordelia sighed.
Meanwhile, Felicity waited until the Moore family arrived before leaving the hospital.
Arielâs heart ached when she saw Marshallâs injured hand. She shed a few tears and said, âI told you not to be a lawyer. Knowing that youâd have to deal with all sorts of people in that line of work, Iâ¦â
Marshallâs head throbbed from her nagging. âMom, stop. Youâre making my head hurt.â
Ariel shut her mouth and rushed up to put some pressure on his temples to relieve his headache. But he dodged her touch and said, âI just need some rest.â
Hearing that, Ariel had no choice but to obey her sonâs wishes. She sat on the side as she peeled some fruits for him.
Soon, the door creaked open, and Marshall instinctively looked up. His gaze became dull once more when he noticed it was just a nurse.
Ariel noticed her sonâs strange behavior and whispered, âAre you waiting for someone, Marshall?â
Marshall pressed his lips together for a long while and asked, âIs Ms. Thompson still here?â
Thinking he was referring to the short-haired woman who had spoken to her outside, Ariel said, âShe left after telling me about what happened. Why? R Marshall shook his head and fell silent. âDid Stella come?â he suddenly asked.
Ariel froze, âYou mean⦠Stella Jewell?â
Marshall said nothing, causing Arielâs heart to sink deeper and deeper as she held onto the fruit knife.
