Chapter 135
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
âNo, Iâm not. However, I have something to ask you.â
âWhat is this about?â Stella thought to herself.
âStella, are you close with Mr. Snyder?â
âNo,â Stella said instantly without hesitating.
She was not lying when she said that. But, more specifically, she was not close with anyone in Keeganâs social circle.
That was because Keegan rarely brought her to meet his friends. Perhaps he only did that because he knew their marriage would not last, so he did not want to spend too much effort to let her blend in.
âWhy would he suddenly be interested in Vermont?â
Stella knew the answer to that very soon after.
Albert said, âSophia told me she met you when she was shopping in a jewelry store with her friend yesterday.â
Stella squinted and said flatly, âYeah, she did. What about it?â
âYou know her friend spent thirty million on a bangle, too, right?â
âYeah.â Stella said before she said sarcastically, âMs. Anne has excellent taste. I heard that the bangle was the best one that the shop had. â
Albert kept quiet for a while before he said, âMs. Anne doesnât want that bangle anymore, but sheâs unable to return it. I heard that the shop belongs to Mr. Snyder, and heâs a friend of Keegan, right?
Could you do me a favor and ask him if he can let Ms. Anne return it?â
âShe spent thirty million just to show off for a few seconds. I guess sheâs regretting it now that she can finally think clearly.â Stella thought to herself.
Stella did not expect that Xianna would ask for Albertâs help.
There was just no reason for her to help them since she plotted it to happen.
âDad, youâre a businessman too. Itâs common knowledge that one can only return the goods if itâs defective. All businesses would close down if every customer like Ms. Anne could return something just because they changed their minds.â
âYouâre right, but Iâm sure you can work something out. Would you let Keegan know what happened so he can talk to Mr. Snyder about it? Iâm sure that it wouldnât be very troublesome for him to do so.â
Stella did not want to help, so she lied, âOkay then. Iâll talk to Keegan about it. However, I canât guarantee if Vermont would do him this favor or not.â
Albert was relieved. âMr. Snyder is such a good friend to Keegan. Iâm sure that he will.â
The call became awkward after the conversation ended, so Albert tried to keep it going,â Howâs your mother recently?â
âSheâs fine.â Stella paused before continuing, âHowever, the doctor told us to talk to her about the past more often to stimulate her. You should go over and chat with her when youâre free because youâre the person that my mother cared about the most.â
Albert said perfunctorily, âI canât find time at all these days. Iâll pay your mother a few days later when Iâm on leave.â
It was not Stellaâs first time listening to Albertâs nonsense. His last visit to the hospital was a year ago, and he only went there to pose because one of Stellaâs grandfatherâs friends wanted to see Rainee.
Albert was a heartless and cruel man However, Stellaâs grandfather was a very good judge of character. There was no way he would allow his daughter to marry someone like him.
Something popped into Stellaâs head after she hung up before she dialed Vermontâs number.
Vermont was bored out of his mind in a regular meeting when he saw an incoming call. He was shocked at first but became very energetic right after. Then, he grabbed his phone as he stood up. He said with a straight face, âCarry on. My clientâs calling me.â
