Chapter 1402
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Hylda no longer possessed the allure of her past. She was wearing the plainest clothes she could find, fearful of being recognized. She trimmed her long, flowy hair and no longer wore makeup. Hylda looked a decade older than before.
As soon as the light flickered on, she instinctively hid. After days of evading capture, she had developed a fear of well-lit places.
âItâs too bright,â she said in a raspy voice.
Ian felt for her and left a dim lamp on.
âWhatâs your plan?â He sat across from her and asked.
Hylda hesitated and said, âIâve been thinking a lot these past few days. Iâve now figured out the things I did not understand before. None of this was a coincidence. She had planned everything out since the day of the wedding. She made me target Xenia out of jealousy and exposed Hugoâs true identity, causing Albert to lose trust in me and freeze my accounts.
âShe then targeted the kindergarten, causing me to lose my only source of income. Following that, she had Walter come and threaten me, driving a wedge between Albert and me over the money. She led me into her trap step by step!â
Hylda gritted her teeth in anger. Twenty years of her hard work to become Mrs. Jewell was flushed down the drain. She was now a fugitive and wanted throughout the city. All she felt was resentment.
âWho are you referring to?â Ian asked in a low voice.
âStella Jewell, of course!â Hyldaâs face grew cold. âShe never believed that the car crash was just an accident. She never gave up on seeking revenge!â
Stella did not simply want to bring Hylda to justice. She wanted to take away everything that did not rightfully belong to her and cast her into hell. It was the ultimate punishment for someone as greedy as Hylda.
At this point, Hylda knew very well that she was already past her prime. Though, she could not accept it. âI was so close to obtaining everything I had ever dreamed of, yet that bitch had to come and ruin it!â
she thought.
Ian pursed his lips, not knowing what to say.
Hylda probably could not see it, but her face looked extremely ugly. Ian recalled Ireneâs warning and steadied himself. âSo⦠whatâs the plan?â he asked once more.
Hyldaâs expression darkened. âI want her dead!â
âThat might be hard to achieve. Stella is not who she used to be. You might not even be able to get close to her right now,â said Ian.
Hylda clenched her fists upon hearing that. She knew what Ian said was the truth, and her desire was likely impossible to fulfill.
Ian took oirt two bundles of cash from his bag and handed them to Hylda. âHereâs some money to get by. Iâll find a chance to help you leave Rivera.â
Hylda looked at the banknotes in front of her, and her eyes began to water. âHow is Hugo doing now?â
âHeâs fine,â said Ian. He glanced at the time and added, âI have to go. Otherwise, theyâll start to suspect me.â
Hylda had so much more to say, but she could not find the right words at that moment.
After seeing Ian off, she stayed in the gallery for over an hour, waiting until there were fewer people outside before venturing out.
However, as soon as she stepped out of the building, she spotted two police officers stationed nearby
