Albert hesitated for a moment and whispered, “As long as you help me out, the Jewell estate will be yours. Your mother and I built the home together. Entrusting it to you rather than someone else puts my mind at ease. You can remarry Keegan once it’s in your possession. You’ll have a strong backing. And with this dowry, the Kane family won’t dare to underestimate you.”

Stella lowered her gaze and laughed. The timing of the laughter was rather peculiar. “It sure is nice of you to think of me at a time like this,” she said.

Albert could not quite figure out Stella’s meaning. “Having raised you for so many years, I’ve long considered you my own even though we’re not connected by blood,” he stated affectionately.

“Is that so…?” Stella pondered Albert’s words and looked at him coldly. “If you long considered me your own, why did you support Sophia when you knew she was framing me? Why did you want to give me away to those old men? How dare you utter such words to me when you did all those things?!”

Albert tried to defend himself, “Hylda and Sophia deceived me at the time. And I couldn’t see through their pla-“

“Shut up!” Stella said coldly. “You caused my mother’s car accident, leaving her bedridden for nearly seven years, only to die with a grievance. Why would I help you?! Huh?! Did you really think I came down here to help you? Dream on! I’m here to see what would happen to a piece of trash like you on behalf of my mother.”

Albert froze as he did not expect Stella to say such harsh words.

“Do you think it was Hylda who betrayed you?”

Albert was taken aback. “Was it not her?”

“Of course not. Hylda hadn’t even been caught yet when the police got to you.”

Albert suddenly recalled the strange expressions of the two police officers when he gave his statement.

‘If it wasn’t Hylda who exposed me, then who?’

Stella kindly provided the answer, “It was your obedient daughter, Sophia. She personally called the police and accused you of being involved in the accident. Originally, the police were just conducting a routine inquiry. Who would have thought that you would shift the blame onto Hylda and expose yourself because you were afraid of getting locked up?”

“Sophia owes the Shaw family so much money because you tricked her into buying your shares. Yet, you refused to help her repay it. Did you think she wouldn’t resent you for this? The Jewell family fortune will be hers once you’re convicted. It’s only right that she resorts to extreme measures.

Especially since you did the same and caused harm to my mother for money,” she added.

Albert was horrified to hear that and could not help but curse, “That ungrateful wretch! Have I not been good to her? How can she be so selfish and vicious? Did she forget that she has a younger brother?”

“A younger brother? I hope you’re not talking about the baby in Xenia’s belly,” Stella said slowly.

Albert’s heart trembled at the mention of his son. “Don’t hurt them, Stella. I’ll give you whatever you want. I’m sorry I killed your mother. Please don’t lay a finger on them. The baby is innocent,” he said with a pale face.

Stella felt sad for him when she saw how terrified he looked while he begged her not to harm Xenia and his nonexistent son. “Do you think Xenia still has the baby after taking an abortion pill? Even Hylda knew there was no baby. Why can’t you see that?”

Albert’s whole body stiffened when he heard what she said.” Wh-What are you talking about?” He asked.

Stella stared at him coldly and said, “There is no baby, Albert. Xenia was never actually pregnant. She worked for me and was just playing you all this while.”

“Nonsense!” Albert stood up in agitation. His movements were so rash that the table shook, and water spilled from the glass. The police officers held him down and sternly told him to sit.

Stella stared at Albert expressionlessly while he was forced back into his seat.

“You could have had a son, you know? When my mom did the IVF, she knew you were desperate for a son. She asked someone from the hospital to check the gender of the baby, even though it was against the rules. It was a boy.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans. Your mistress secretly drugged my mother, causing her to have a miscarriage.

From then on, she could never conceive again.”
